The wind carried a roar, and before even a single scream could be heard, the entire town was wiped out in the blink of an eye. Dust filled the sky and drifted down, some of it settling upon ground so flat that even the Princess and the Pea could sleep on it without finding it uncomfortable.
The tavern vanished as well, leaving only an abrupt, enormous pit in its place.
The view brightened.
An invisible wind shielded Xia Yan from the dust as he leaped down in a single step.
Everyone in the town had been a desperado. Killing them was no great matter, and destroying the tavern was no different. It was merely an entrance. Once he entered Slaughter City, they would surely build another tavern.
In the darkness, he descended several meters before landing steadily.
Ahead lay a long stone passageway that sloped downward, cold air constantly blowing through it.
Outside, it was the transition between spring and summer. Here, the temperature had already dropped to early spring. But to Xia Yan, there was little difference between the freezing cold of snow and ice and the heat of a desert.
Even without light, he could see where he was going and swiftly moved through the passage.
After traveling several thousand meters, he turned a corner and suddenly encountered a massive open stone gate. Flames flickered across the black walls.
He passed through the stone gate.
His vision instantly widened.
More than a hundred warriors in heavy armor stood solemnly with greatswords in hand, their faces completely concealed. At the very front, someone sat upon a tall warhorse, and even the horse was clad in black armor.
Behind them stood a black city. Its thick black walls looked as though they were built to defend against
