Chapter Summaries

The Traveler and Varka reminisced atop the Statue of The Seven about Mondstadt, the Traveler’s journey, and their shared efforts against the Abyss. Venti joined them, and their conversation turned to the Traveler’s remaining journey to Snezhnaya and the last Gnosis.

• The Traveler sat with Varka on the statue and recalled how Mondstadt felt like home, while Columbina called Sandrone and her sisters her family.

• Dvalin flew over Mondstadt completely corrupted by the Abyss, and Venti explained that his tears had become corrupted crystallizations that they needed to collect.
• The Traveler chose to search the right side of the city and found Diluc fighting monsters; Diluc suspected the Knights and civilians had evacuated Mondstadt.
• The Traveler, Venti, and Diluc collected a Stormterror’s Tear and headed toward Jean, while Diluc said Jean was on the other side of the city.
• The Traveler and the others found Acting Grand Master Jean, helped her defeat monsters, and continued searching for Varka while collecting Dvalin’s tears.
• A tremendous crash drew the group’s attention, and they saw the Statue of The Seven shattered in half.

The Traveler and the others learned that Dvalin had broken free of his seal and become too corrupted to purify, so they set out to destroy him at Stormterror’s Lair. As Venti used his lyre to call Dvalin forth, Layla began divining Ning Rongrong’s alternate storyline.

• The Traveler’s group helped Varka defend the ruined Statue of The Seven and regrouped in a safer place.
• Nicole and Alice explained that a magical continuity error had created a storyline in which the Traveler never purified Dvalin, who later broke free of his seal and became irreversibly corrupted.

After Varka struck the Abyss core, the group escaped the magic bubble and confirmed their victory, though Dvalin crashed through Jean's office window and into Cider Lake.
