PS: Thanks to reader Wu Xi Dushuren for the 30,000 Qidian coin reward. Congratulations on becoming this book's Sect Master.
Right now, the Jianghu only knew that the Golden Tent Khanate's state religion was the Kungjia Sect. Few knew that before the Kungjia Sect came to the Golden Tent Khanate, its state religion had actually been Shamanism.
By all reason, the Kungjia Sect should not have been able to compete with Shamanism, but Shamanism's own doctrines had enormous flaws.
The Golden Tent Khanate had always revered the Eight Imperial Clans above all else, so if one wished to join Shamanism and become a shaman, one first had to be born into the Eight Imperial Clans.
As a result, the number of shamans in Shamanism was exceedingly small.
The Kungjia Sect, however, was different. The Kungjia Sect made no distinction between its followers. Ordinary Golden Tent Khanate herdsmen could join the Kungjia Sect, and those born into the Eight Imperial Clans could naturally join as well.
In less than a hundred years, the Kungjia Sect's influence had completely surpassed Shamanism's, and it became the Golden Tent Khanate's state religion.
By now, Shamanism was on the verge of extinction. Throughout the entire Golden Tent Khanate, there were not even a thousand shamans left, and there was only one Great Shaman—the man before them.
If the Eight Imperial Clans had not intervened, Shamanism would likely have long since been slaughtered to the last by the Kungjia Sect.
Of course, in the eyes of some Jianghu people, Shamanism had failed not merely because of the path it chose, but because of the method of cultivation it chose.
The Kungjia Sect originated from the Esoteric Sect and cultivated orthodox Buddhist esoteric martial arts.
What Shamanism cultivated, however, was not martial arts, but shamanic sorcery.
