Watching the Chaos Abyss devour and fuse with the Star of God was actually very quick. Heller's estimate had been precise—less than an hour, at most a little over forty minutes. Within the Chaos Abyss, a dreamlike curtain of light like an aurora twisted into existence in the void, replacing the black mist that had originally shrouded the Chaos Abyss. The entire process was complete.
The Pool of Chaos, once as black as a dead-sea swamp left behind by hundreds of millions of years, now contained not only black, but ribbons of yellow, blue, cyan, and red light. Vortices of every size filled the Chaos Abyss. All kinds of brilliance spilled from within them as a vast torrent of the four elements surged in from the Element Abyss like the Yangtze and the sea, ceaselessly entering the Chaos Abyss and being devoured and converted into the Castle of Black Iron's Basic Energy Reserve.
The Chaos Abyss devoured such an enormous quantity of the four elements every second that tiny particles of them escaped, flickering in and out of sight in the void. Near the Chaos Abyss, specks of floating light glimmered like countless fireflies of every color dancing around it. After this transformation, the once deathly still Chaos Abyss had abruptly become vibrant and alive, dreamlike and fantastic. Even Zhang Tie was left staring in dumbfounded amazement.
The sight before them was simply too fantastical. It was breathtaking even in daylight; at night, the scenery here would be so romantic and dazzling it could drive one mad.
Sensing the aura of the four elements, the little black beetle perched on Zhang Tie's collar suddenly took flight, ecstatic beyond measure. After circling Zhang Tie several times like lightning, it impatiently darted off to chase the elemental motes flickering through the void.
