Watching the two snakes devouring each other, Zhang Tie felt a question rise within him. For some reason, among all the human religions and totem worship he knew of, reptiles—or religious totems bearing the colors and traits of reptiles—seemed to account for nearly half.
Throughout human history, even among races and civilizations that had never interacted and had each flourished on different continents and subcontinents, many of their religious totems shared remarkably similar elements.
There were countless kinds of animals in this world, so why did reptiles occupy such a crucial place in every religious totem?
Zhang Tie did not know the answer. He believed that probably no one in this world knew it either, because understanding this question might require knowledge from fields that touched upon great secrets of ancient times. Thus, when people of this age looked at those religious totems sharing the same elements, aside from curiosity, they could only be left scratching their heads in bewilderment.
Fortunately, this was not the time for archaeology or academic research. The question in his heart flashed through Zhang Tie's mind and was promptly cast aside.
Beneath those two serpent-shaped totems, the two doors were covered in strange symbols. Amid those runes, even someone like Zhang Tie, who knew little about astronomy and celestial phenomena, immediately noticed the star charts in the sky depicted upon the doors, along with the two radiant full moons positioned at their center.
There was nowhere on the doors to insert a key or crystal, and the surrounding brilliance made the images on them the only information the doors could reveal.
And the information revealed by those doors was only one thing: the key to opening them was the power of celestial phenomena. Only when two full moons appeared could the doors be opened.
