The battle outside Moge City grew even fiercer at night, especially along a stretch over a hundred meters long in the middle of the northern wall. That place had utterly become the focal point of the entire battlefield—both where the most demonized puppets lay dead and where corpses piled up the fastest. Worthy of your collection.
From the sky, Zhang Tie took only one glance and discovered that over the course of the entire day, the demonized puppets and the corpses they had carried had raised the ground there by another two meters. A slope of piled corpses nearly twenty meters high had already appeared there.
Although they had encircled Moge City, the Devil Race army also knew how to concentrate its forces and how to breach the city at the smallest cost. With most of the Devil Race army's strength pressing against the northern wall, the defensive equipment on Moge City's other walls had mostly become useless. Only a small portion of the defensive equipment on the eastern and western walls adjacent to the northern wall could provide limited support against the immense pressure on the north.
Nightfall was when the demonized puppets went mad. Wave after wave of demonized puppets charged toward Moge City. Along a section of the wall several thousand meters long, Human Warriors arranged in eight rows stood ready in grim formation. Each held a repeating crossbow, using staggered volleys to repel the demonized puppets' assault. Once one row had stepped forward and finished shooting, it immediately withdrew, replaced by the row behind it. The rotations continued without end. In the darkness, bolts from those repeating crossbows flew from the wall in row after row, falling outside the city like raindrops.
Unless they were struck in the head, however, those demonized puppets would never stop
