When Zhang Tie and Elder Mu En entered the tiny pawnshop, it was cold and deserted. Only a young attendant in blue clothes and a blue cap was dozing behind the counter, drool pooling on the countertop.
All the furniture and fittings in the pawnshop looked as if they had been there for many years, their luster long gone. The entire shop carried the faint, smoky tea scent found only in old teahouses, steeped into everything by years of smoke and tea.
