Before leaving, Zhang Tie had set one of the manor's main buildings ablaze. By the time he returned, nearly half the buildings in the City Lord's Manor were burning. Fortunately, the garden was vast and had no buildings in it. An artificial lake several acres wide also lay between the garden and those buildings, so the fire elsewhere in the manor did not affect this place at all.
