Eye, Nose, Ear Combination

"Eye, Nose, and Ear squad? What kind of weird name is that?"

Inuzuka Gai voiced his skepticism, while Aburame Tomohiro looked at Hyuga Shinichi with a puzzled expression.

"Look, I have the Byakugan, so I can observe from a great distance—that makes me the 'Eye.' Gai and Black Charcoal have incredibly sharp noses, so you're the 'Nose.' Tomohiro, you've been cultivating those special bugs that can transmit sounds they hear back to you from afar, so you're the 'Ear.' How about it? Isn't it pretty good?"

Inuzuka Gai's keen sense of smell was partly due to his clan's secret techniques and partly due to his own dedicated training, which was bolstered by an unknown medicinal herb that Hyuga Shinichi had brought back from a mission.

Once, when Inuzuka Gai smelled a strong scent emanating from the items Hyuga Shinichi had brought home, he discovered it was a medicinal herb. Hyuga Shinichi gifted it to him, and Inuzuka Gai took it back to his clan.

Under the research of the Inuzuka Clan, it was discovered that long-term topical and oral use of this herb, combined with their secret techniques, could significantly heighten olfactory sensitivity.

The drawback was that when the effects first kicked in, the nose became hypersensitive, requiring a special mask to dampen the smell until one gradually grew accustomed to such high sensitivity.

Once acclimated, one could control the sensitivity of their sense of smell using chakra, a technique that could also be applied to ninja hounds. This herb was subsequently recorded into the Inuzuka Clan's secret techniques.

As for Aburame Tomohiro, he had cultivated a special type of bug, inspired by a conversation he once had with Hyuga Shinichi.

Hyuga Shinichi had told him about ant pheromones and mentioned how he had read online in his past life that ants could also communicate through sound.

When Hyuga Shinichi used his Byakugan to observe the ants Aburame Tomohiro was raising, he indeed discovered a special spike-like structure on the dorsal side of their abdomens; when the ants moved it with their hind legs, it produced a faint sound at a specific frequency.

Combining these insights with his clan's secret techniques, Aburame Tomohiro cultivated a sound-transmitting bug he named the Sound-Stealing Bug, a reconnaissance insect similar to the secret technique of the Kikaichū.

The Sound-Stealing Bug was divided into a queen and drones; the queen remained in Aburame Tomohiro's ear canal, and the drones could transmit the sounds they heard back to the queen, allowing Aburame Tomohiro to hear them using his clan's techniques.

The drawback was the limited range; the maximum distance was just over three hundred meters, after which the transmitted sound would become intermittent.

Later, the Aburame Clan learned of this, and recognizing the benefits of the Sound-Stealing Bug, they recorded it into their clan's secret techniques.

Currently, only Aburame Tomohiro had successfully cultivated them, and the survival rate was very low. There was only one queen and four drones—two were small crawling bugs that could dig and move quickly, and two were small flying bugs that could travel at high speeds.

When these two clans learned that all of this was linked to Hyuga Shinichi, they extended various invitations to him and the upper echelons of the Hyuga Clan to visit, vaguely hinting at forming an alliance similar to the Ino-Shika-Cho.

Sarutobi Hiruzen, the Third Hokage, eventually learned of this and, after considering the feasibility, gave his full support.

After all, the combined capabilities of the three clans would make intelligence gathering incredibly easy, and the importance of intelligence went without saying. Furthermore, the combined offensive and defensive capabilities of the three clans were by no means inferior to the Ino-Shika-Cho, providing the village with another powerful combination.

Now, the three of them could be considered the first "experimental squad" of these three clans and the village.

"It's so tacky, but it does fit the characteristics of our squad."

"Good, the inaugural Eye-Nose-Ear squad is officially established! Now, for our first mission: escort the target to the Land of Iron and return safely to Konoha."

As the sun fully set, the caravan began to drive the carriages forward. The Eye-Nose-Ear squad sat on the roof of the carriage, resting while keeping a lookout for any dangers that might emerge.

An incident occurred upon reaching the border between the Land of Fire and the Land of Iron. A group of wandering samurai turned bandits appeared in the middle of the road and on both sides of the caravan. The Eye-Nose-Ear squad had noticed they were being followed when they crossed the border of the Land of Fire, but they hadn't alerted the enemy, letting them continue to tail them.

"What do you say, Shinichi?"

"Gai and Tomohiro, you two handle the people on the sides. I'll take care of the ones in front."

Since Hyuga Shinichi was the "Eye," he was the squad leader, and the decisions were his to make.

"Hahaha, no problem! After such a long journey, I've been itching to move. Black Charcoal, get ready for battle."

"Woof woof."

Black Charcoal was now as large as an adult wolf from his past life, and his terrifying fangs were immediately bared. He let out a low growl that sounded like a tractor engine starting, causing some of the timid samurai to tremble in their boots.

"Come out and move, Earth Centipede."

The ground in front of Aburame Tomohiro cracked open, and a red-headed centipede the size of an adult anaconda emerged. Its first pair of legs secreted venom, and Kikaichū began to crawl out from his own body, also startling some of the samurai.

Watching his two companions' combat styles, Hyuga Shinichi felt like he was playing a Pokémon battle.

Hyuga Shinichi shook his head to clear his thoughts and looked at the leader of the wandering samurai blocking the path.

"Surrender now, and we won't kill you. We will detain you and hand you over to the Land of Iron for processing."

"You wet-behind-the-ears brat, talking big here. Oh, and a member of the Hyuga Clan, too? I haven't had the pleasure of cutting down someone with such an enviable Kekkei Genkai yet. Boys, get them!"

With that, he drew his katana and charged forward.

"Sigh, you refuse a toast only to drink a forfeit. Wind Style: Vacuum Blast!"

Hyuga Shinichi gathered power in both hands at his waist, much like a Kamehameha from his past life. As the samurai approached, he unleashed the blast, instantly blowing the leading samurai leader behind the crowd. His chest was a bloody mess, and he was left hovering between life and death. The remaining force of the blast also sent several of the charging samurai flying.

"Damn it! That power definitely isn't a standard ninjutsu. There's no way this brat can use it consecutively. Let's attack together! This caravan must be carrying a lot of money; we'll be able to live in luxury for a while if we take it."

Among the wandering samurai, one who held a position second only to the leader spoke up, motivating those who had wanted to retreat.

Seeing this, Hyuga Shinichi sighed and drew the Listen-to-Wind Sword from his back.

"Wind-Riding Sword Technique: Wind-Cutting Slash!"

A cyan-green slash flew out. Several samurai who tried to block the attack with their katanas were cut in half along with their blades. He then charged into the crowd, unleashing slashes no weaker than the first, each one drawing a spray of blood.

On his side, Inuzuka Gai and Black Charcoal used the Fang Over Fang to charge into the crowd, then utilized the Four-Legs Technique to gather chakra in their limbs, transforming into a beast-like state to increase their grip and attack power, slaughtering their way through the crowd alongside Black Charcoal.

Aburame Tomohiro stood his ground, controlling his Kikaichū to attack the samurai, while the giant red-headed Earth Centipede burrowed in and out of the ground, leaving the samurai struggling to cope. Those struck by the Earth Centipede were poisoned and lay on the ground foaming at the mouth.

Before long, the three of them had dealt with the group of wandering samurai. Hyuga Shinichi finished first, taking some of the samurai who were unable to continue fighting as prisoners.

Inuzuka Gai's side also finished, leaving some samurai crippled, but the samurai on Aburame Tomohiro's side were not so lucky; none survived, as they were either bitten to death by Kikaichū or poisoned by the Earth Centipede.
