However, though the great collision lay ten thousand years in the future, it had already triggered a chain of reactions before then.

As dimensions drew closer to one another, they not only caused a succession of informational interferences, but also projections. Furthermore, the immense force twisting the dimensions caused brief overlaps to appear between them ahead of time...

There was no pattern whatsoever to this phenomenon. The duration of the overlaps was so minuscule it was nearly impossible to measure, while the overlapping space, compared to an entire dimension, was smaller than even a speck of dust.

Yet this phenomenon had an enormous impact on the dimensional spacetime at the heart of the changes.

The dimensions that had been interfered with by the void beyond dimensions and had thus come crashing toward dimensional spacetime all shared one trait: they were deeply mired in the Gray Calamity, yet their living beings had not been extinguished, nor had their civilizations. They had not been wholly transformed into gray monsters; the life within them was still struggling bitterly in resistance.

Nor was this a coincidence. Once a dimension had completely fallen, it would continuously drift closer toward the center of the vortex.

In that gray vortex, the closer one got to the center, the denser the gray became; the closer one got to the edge, the thinner it grew.

But without doubt, even the gray at the very edge of the vortex carried a Gray Calamity far more intense than that of the current dimensional spacetime.

Thus, when those brief dimensional overlaps appeared, they merely added a few gray spots to dimensional spacetime. But for the beings and civilizations within that dimensional spacetime, and for the Saints, they were an immense disaster.

It was not merely the terrifying destructive power of the Gray
