The shattered earth resembled a pained, twisted human face. Blood tears flowed like rivers of blood, running wild across the broken land and emptying into the sea.
Above her, an eclipse that would never fade hung high in the sky. It was like a gate to another world, or the mouth of a smelting furnace, constantly spewing forth a blinding red light. She could not tell whether it was flame or blood.
The eclipse hung high above the heavens, staining the sky at the horizon with a blood-red glow. Yet the closer it came to the zenith, the denser that glaring crimson became, until it was darker than night itself.
Where was this?
Yao Wan instinctively turned around, as though she had heard some sound.
It seemed to come from beneath her feet, a tremor spreading up from deep within the earth.
Before she could react, blood-stained thorns covered in spikes burst from the ground. Like living creatures, they searched everywhere for prey, piercing anyone they encountered in a single strike, sucking their blood and devouring their power. In the end, the victims became dried husks hanging from the bloody thorns. As the thorns writhed violently, the desiccated corpses were naturally torn to pieces and scattered everywhere.
