"I'm quite happy."
A relaxed smile spread across Xiao Yan's face.
"What does Wan'er think?"
"Revisiting an old place has a special charm, doesn't it?" Yao Wan murmured.
"I thought Wan'er might wear those elder robes from back then these past two days."
Seeing that she did not seem especially delighted either, Xiao Yan tilted his head. A few loose strands at his temples fell onto her shoulder, and his breath, carrying a faint scent of wine, made her slightly uncomfortable.
"I'm not an elder of Jia Nan Academy anymore. What would I wear that for?"
She shot Xiao Yan an irritated glance. How could she not know what nonsense this guy was about to spout?
"To me, Jia Nan Academy was a pretty good place. But when I really think back on it, it somehow feels like..."
Yao Wan trailed off.
"Like what?"
Xiao Yan gave a quiet sound of surprise, only for her to poke his forehead and gently shove him away.
"Go on, get out of here."
"Does Wan'er think I was too much of an attention seeker at Jia Nan Academy back then?" Xiao Yan asked with a grin.
"I never said that."
"Then has Wan'er realized that she simply can't recall her memories of Jia Nan Academy without me in them?"
Xiao Yan suddenly leaned back and lay down upon the soft grass behind him, gazing up at the brilliant river of stars overhead, leaving her at a loss for words.
Before she could say anything, however, Xiao Yan made another startling remark. "But Wan'er stayed at Jia Nan Academy because of me back then too, right? Hmm... then there was nothing to be done about it—"
"Who said I stayed at Jia Nan Academy because of you?!"
"Huh? Wasn't that the case?"
"Of~ course~
