Yao Wan could not help lowering her head slightly, then frowned softly, naturally drawing Xiao Yan's attention.
"What is it?"
Xiao Yan asked curiously. In response, Yao Wan lightly brushed her slender jade fingers over her Storage Ring, and a red jade slip appeared in her fair palm, as thick as a finger and as long as a bamboo segment.
Xiao Yan had naturally not forgotten the item. Yet unlike the dull color it had borne when Fairy Huo Ling had handed it to Yao Wan in the Yan Clan not long ago, the jade slip in Yao Wan's hand had now turned blazing crimson, as though set aflame. It was exceptionally splendid, making one marvel at the sight.
"Looks like they are in quite a hurry over there as well."
Yao Wan was not surprised by the jade slip's fiery reaction. Rather, it was exactly as she had expected.
"Of course they are. There is an infiltrator in their clan, and clearly not one of low standing..."
Xiao Yan shook his head. Anyone would find such a matter headache-inducing.
"So they came knocking, didn't they?"
Yao Wan smiled faintly, but then noticed footsteps approaching from outside the Starfall Pavilion hall. Her expression immediately turned solemn. "This jade slip belongs to the Yan Clan. I do not know whether it has any additional means of detection. To be safe, I will find somewhere secluded to handle these negotiations myself. It seems something is happening here as well, so I will leave it to you."
Xiao Yan had no objections to Yao Wan's arrangements and nodded lightly. Then he watched the graceful figure in sky-blue take swift lotus steps and leave the Starfall Pavilion's great hall.
As his gaze gradually drifted away from Wan'er's retreating figure, Xiao Yan sensed the footsteps
