When the woman's voice, like thunder breaking the calm, reached his ears, Lord Gan was abruptly startled.
He instinctively looked around, yet everything appeared perfectly ordinary. Even so, an inexplicable chill crept over him.
It felt as though someone—or something—had fixed its gaze upon him.
Lord Gan immediately shook his head and frowned. It was nothing more than tricks and bluster—did they think they could intimidate an Earthly Supreme?
The moment his words fell, the deep female voice echoing by his ears seemed to disperse along with his thoughts, vanishing without a trace.
"Who is it, playing such tricks?!"
Lord Gan shouted furiously. As his voice fell, the strange oppressive feeling around him seemed to fade considerably, like a veil of mist concealing its true form being swept away in an instant.
"Playing tricks and making a mystery of things!"
The inexplicable sense of urgency in his heart dissipated by more than half. Reassured, Lord Gan naturally did not hesitate any longer. The force gathered in his palm condensed into a single point, stirring the winds and clouds, drawing upon Heaven and Earth Power, and crushing down without reservation.
"When the nest is overturned, how can any egg remain intact?"
As he watched the spirit array that was about to be crushed bit by bit beneath his power, Lord Gan could not shake the ominous foreboding and unease that had lingered in his heart from the very beginning.
After all, this spirit array radiated strangeness from every angle. Even Lord Gan could not help feeling an inexplicable sense of danger rise within him. Naturally, there was no way he could simply leave it be.
Yet before Lord Gan could witness the spirit array shatter, what happened before his eyes made his pupils contract sharply and his hairs stand on end.
