Origin and allegiance

Lin Fan is one of Lin Nuo’s five soul fragments and inherits the Authority of Fate. He accepts Lin Nuo as their sovereign, explicitly describing the fragments’ relationship with the primary soul as that of subjects serving a lord. His activities take place in the Peerless Tang Sect era, where he develops alongside Lin Rui 1 2 14 88.

Before choosing a mentor, he prepares alternative paths for himself. When Kong Deming comments on his remote origins, Lin Fan tests the elder’s attitude by suggesting that he could join the Body Sect instead. Kong Deming’s reassurance allows him to proceed with his preferred arrangement 13.

Kong Deming’s disciple

Lin Fan introduces his martial soul’s attribute as spiritual rather than revealing its Fate nature. Kong Deming immediately sees its suitability for Soul Tool research. Lin Fan asks what becoming his disciple would provide, then accepts on the spot when offered a Ninth-level defensive Soul Tool 14.

Their goal is technological development rather than a confrontation between their teachers 137 139.

Lin Fan proposes distributing Soul Tools through the Body Sect to erode resistance within the Original Three Kingdoms. He intends to make the technology indispensable in everyday life. Lin Rui names the resulting business Fanrui Chamber of Commerce and is initially appointed to lead it; Lin Fan is later addressed as its president 141 328.
