Background / History

Zhu Zhuqing was born into the Zhu Clan of the Star Luo Empire. Under the clan’s marriage custom, its legitimate daughters are paired with princes of the imperial family whose Evil-Eyed White Tiger Martial Souls are compatible with the Hell Spirit Cat. Zhu Zhuqing was betrothed to Dai Mubai, while her elder sister, Zhu Zhuyun, was chosen for Dai Weisi. She resented being used as a sacrifice in the imperial family’s succession conflict. 134

She escaped the Star Luo Empire intending to cross the Star Dou Great Forest and find Dai Mubai in the Heaven Dou Empire. Zhu Zhuyun sent Soul Masters after her, and Zhu Zhuqing was injured while escaping their Wind Blade Rain. Rather than surrender, she entered an approaching beast tide and hid in a tree hollow. 131

Li Han dispersed the beast tide after knocking over a thirty-thousand-year Earth King, discovered Zhu Zhuqing, and treated her wounds with an Essence Nourishing Pill. After learning of her circumstances, he offered cultivation guidance and the Inverted Phoenix Nurturing Origin Art. Zhu Zhuqing accepted his terms—including a mental restriction preventing her from speaking of him—and chose to gamble on the chance to control her own fate. 132 134 135

Under Li Han’s guidance and with his pills, Zhu Zhuqing rapidly rose from rank 26 to rank 36. She acquired her third soul ring from a two-thousand-year Shadow Sabertooth Tiger and received the Shadow Gloves, a Dharma Artifact forged for her from a far stronger Shadow Sabertooth Tiger’s fangs. 137 141

In Suotuo City, Zhu Zhuqing confronted Dai Mubai and found him indulging himself rather than preparing for their shared political fate. She defeated him despite being one rank lower, declared their engagement dissolved, and set a goal of becoming a Soul King before the final battle that would determine their futures. Dai Mubai refused to recognize that he could decide the engagement’s dissolution, but Zhu Zhuqing resolved to continue on a path independent of him, the Dai Clan, and the Zhu Clan. 143 144 145

Later, she accompanied Li Han and Xiao Wu into the Star Dou Great Forest. After taking the Singular Velvet Sky Pill, she agreed to challenge a ten-thousand-year Ghost Tiger as her prospective fourth soul ring. Zhu Zhuqing and Xiao Wu killed the beast through coordinated attacks, after which Zhu Zhuqing successfully absorbed its ten-thousand-year soul ring and became a Soul Ancestor. 166 167 168 169

Zhu Zhuqing subsequently aided Li Han’s hunt for a ninety-thousand-year Purple Thunder Roc. She used her new shadow clones to lure Purple Thunder Rocs from Purple Thunder Canyon into Li Han’s Heavenly Gale Formation, then escaped the pursuing flock alongside him after he absorbed the target’s soul ring. 178 179

After returning to Heaven Dou City, Zhu Zhuqing adopted Li Han’s local alias, Han Li, and stayed at Green Bamboo Cottage with Xiao Wu. She enrolled at Heaven Dou Royal Academy, joined the Heaven Dou Team, and later participated in the newcomer squad’s training match against the academy’s original team. 182 183 191 204 205

Dai Mubai was later killed by Li Han. 219

Zhu Zhuqing subsequently fought in the Heaven Dou Team’s friendly match against Shrek Academy. She was among the academy’s strongest seven members selected for the match and easily defeated an opposing Shrek fighter as her team won in less than ten seconds. At the beginning of the Soul Master Tournament, Shrek forfeited its preliminary match against Heaven Dou Second Team. Zhu Zhuqing noticed Dai Mubai’s continued absence and wondered whether Shrek was concealing a trump card; she was not shown knowing that he had already been killed. 227 228 235

Against Elephant Armor Academy, Zhu Zhuqing formed part of Li Han’s four-person assault formation alongside Wang Sheng, Zhao Ting, and Xiao Wu. Her black fourth soul ring astonished the audience. She confronted Huyan Li with her true body and two shadow clones, attacking from three directions and breaking through his defenses with claw strikes. 236

During preparations for the Godwind Academy match, Li Han initially assigned Zhu Zhuqing to fight Feng Xiaotian because her soul skills were well suited to countering him. He then privately gave her a hundred-thousand-year Shadow Sabertooth Tiger right-leg Soul Bone to strengthen her for the anticipated confrontation with the Star Luo Team. She absorbed it and gained two new abilities, estimating that she would have a ninety percent chance of overcoming Dai Weisi and Zhu Zhuyun’s Martial Soul Fusion Skill upon reaching Soul King. Feng Xiaotian’s subsequent challenge to Li Han replaced the planned matchup. 247

On a later trip to the Star Dou Great Forest, Zhu Zhuqing obtained a thirty-thousand-year fifth soul ring and reached rank 53 Soul King. She and Xiao Wu waited in a nearby town while Li Han completed his work following his battle with Ghost Douluo and Chrysanthemum Douluo. Before traveling to Spirit City, Zhu Zhuqing expressed confidence in facing her sister and Dai Weisi, while warning Xiao Wu about the danger of her soul beast identity being discovered there. 258

In the Grand Finals, Heaven Dou Second Team faced the Star Luo Royal Academy Team. Zhu Zhuqing explained the lethal succession tradition to her teammates and asked for their help in proving that she was no longer a puppet of the Star Luo royal family. With their support, she confronted Zhu Zhuyun and Dai Weisi, overwhelmed them with her speed and shadow clones, and forced them to use Hell White Tiger. She then activated Hell Armor, received Ning Rongrong and Mei Ning’s enhancements, and cut through the fused beast with Hell Sword Slash. Her victory secured the match for Heaven Dou Second Team and brought her widespread acclaim in Spirit City. Afterward, she embraced Li Han and cried while thanking him for helping her find a path to change her fate. 260 261 262

Following the defeat, Dai Weisi offered to replace Zhu Zhuyun with Zhu Zhuqing as his fiancée and future empress, even promising to let her take revenge on her sister. Zhu Zhuqing rejected him and slapped him twice, condemning both his betrayal of Zhu Zhuyun and his insulting assumptions about her. She publicly renounced the imperial succession competition and reaffirmed her goal of becoming a Titled Douluo. She then helped Zhu Zhuyun stand, ended their feud, and accepted her sister’s apology. Zhu Zhuqing stated that she would eventually return to Star Luo as a daughter visiting her parents, not as a claimant to the throne. Afterward, she chose to continue following Li Han, who indicated plans to take the group to Sea God Island after the tournament. 262 263

Appearance

Zhu Zhuqing is a black-haired girl with a cat-like appearance associated with her Hell Spirit Cat Martial Soul. She initially appears in fitted black clothing while fleeing through the Star Dou Great Forest. 131

  • Shoulder-length black hair. 131
  • Hair styled into prominent cat-ear shapes. 131
  • Usually wears black, close-fitting clothing. 131
  • Her Hell Spirit Cat Martial Soul manifests with a feline combat style and black Soul Power claws. 131
  • By the Grand Finals, her Hell Spirit Cat manifests as a purple feline threaded with golden markings, surprising Zhu Zhuyun. 260
  • Hell Armor covers her entire body in dark purple armor and manifests a longsword in her hand. 262

Personality

Zhu Zhuqing is initially cold, melancholy, and deeply distrustful of the fate forced upon her. Repeated failed escape attempts and Dai Mubai’s abandonment leave her resentful, but they also make her exceptionally determined to survive. 131

She is decisive when offered a genuine path forward. Despite having known Li Han only briefly, she accepts his dangerous conditions because she sees strength as her only means of escaping the Zhu Clan and imperial family’s control. 134 135

After gaining power, Zhu Zhuqing becomes more confident and openly defiant. She no longer expects Dai Mubai to save her, instead pursuing her own cultivation and the ambition to surpass both him and Zhu Zhuyun. 138 143 145

Zhu Zhuqing remains exceptionally diligent even after becoming a Soul Ancestor. While Xiao Wu favors balancing cultivation with rest, Zhu Zhuqing continues intensive training because she intends to return to the Star Luo Empire only after attaining the strength to reclaim what was denied to her. 200

She is quiet and restrained in group settings, but her actions demonstrate strong resolve and loyalty. During the Heaven Dou Team training match, she accepted her assigned role without hesitation and suppressed two opposing agility-type attackers through her superior speed and claw techniques. 204 205

Her discipline remains central to her later achievements: Li Han recalls that she was consistently the first to arrive at the training grounds and the last to leave. Despite her outward restraint, her victory over Hell White Tiger moves her to tears, revealing the emotional weight of her struggle for independence. 262

By the Grand Finals, Zhu Zhuqing distinguishes personal freedom from political advancement. She rejects the position of empress rather than merely seeking to win the succession contest, and refuses to exchange one imposed marriage for another. Her continued loyalty to Li Han is presented as a choice grounded in genuine affection, rather than only a bargain for cultivation resources. 260 263

She also demonstrates compassion and a capacity for forgiveness. Although she confronts Zhu Zhuyun over years of persecution, she remembers her sister’s childhood kindness and recognizes the pressure of their family’s rules. After winning, she ends their rivalry and encourages Zhu Zhuyun to find a life beyond the imperial competition. 263

Goals

  • Control her own fate rather than remain a pawn of the Zhu Clan and Star Luo imperial family. 134
  • Surpass her elder sister Zhu Zhuyun, who was rank 43 when Zhu Zhuqing fled the empire; this objective is achieved by the Grand Finals, when Zhu Zhuqing is a Soul King and Zhu Zhuyun remains a Soul Ancestor. 138 258 261
  • Reach the Soul King realm before the final battle connected to her arranged marriage; she achieves Soul King before confronting the Star Luo Team in the tournament finals. 145 258 260
  • Sever her ties to Dai Mubai and reject the arranged engagement imposed by their clans. 144 145
  • Initially sought to become a Title Douluo before returning to the Star Luo Empire and reclaiming what belongs to her, with a nearer objective of reaching Soul King within a year. She later clarifies that she intends to return as a daughter visiting her parents, not to inherit the empress’s throne. 200 263
  • Defeat Dai Weisi and Zhu Zhuyun’s Hell White Tiger to overcome the fear associated with her former fate; she accomplishes this with her teammates’ support. 247 260 262
  • Remain with Li Han after the tournament and pursue further growth; Sea God Island is discussed as the group’s next destination, but she has not yet undertaken its trials. 263

Abilities & Skills

Hell Spirit Cat

Zhu Zhuqing’s Martial Soul is the Hell Spirit Cat, a feline Martial Soul suited to speed, close combat, and claw-based attacks. 131 143

  • Fusing with the Martial Soul increases her speed severalfold. 131
  • Allowed her to evade pursuing Soul Masters despite her then-lower Soul Grandmaster cultivation. 131
  • Supports her role as an agility-type Battle Soul Master. 143
  • Her speed enabled her to pressure Yu Feng and Osler simultaneously during the Heaven Dou Team training match. 205
  • Her fifth soul ring further enhanced her physical speed, while her hundred-thousand-year Soul Bone produced an especially significant improvement in her overall combat strength. 261
  • By the Grand Finals, its appearance had changed to a purple feline with golden markings. 260

First Soul Skill: Hell Stab

Hell Stab condenses sharp Soul Power claws for a direct killing strike. 137

  • Used to kill the immobilized two-thousand-year Shadow Sabertooth Tiger. 137
  • With the Shadow Gloves transformed into claws, it tore through the hide of a ten-thousand-year Ghost Tiger. 168
  • Broke through Dai Mubai’s White Tiger Vajra Transformation protection and left three claw wounds across his back. 144
  • Opened her Grand Finals confrontation with Zhu Zhuyun; her speed and attack power forced both Zhu Zhuyun and Dai Weisi to abandon their initial contempt and fight seriously. 260 261

Second Soul Skill: Netherworld Hundred Claws

Netherworld Hundred Claws produces a barrage of claw afterimages. 131 168

  • Forms blackened, elongated Soul Power claws around her hands. 131
  • Can create hundreds of claw afterimages in a single attack. 168
  • Shattered an incoming wind blade, though the resulting explosion still injured and threw her back. 131
  • Tore several wounds into a ten-thousand-year Ghost Tiger’s hide when used with the Shadow Gloves. 168
  • Used to suppress Yu Feng and Osler during the Heaven Dou Team training match. 205

Third Soul Skill: Hell Sword Slash

Hell Sword Slash is a highly sharp sword-like Soul Power slash derived from her Shadow Sabertooth Tiger third ring. 137

  • Its defining trait is extreme sharpness. 137
  • Used to cut the ten-thousand-year Ghost Tiger in half after Xiao Wu created an opening. 168
  • Repeated use rapidly consumes her strength; using it twice in the Ghost Tiger battle left her panting. 168
  • Can condense a violet longsword and release sword qi sharp enough to slice a massive boulder cleanly in half. 137
  • While wearing Hell Armor and receiving Ning Rongrong and Mei Ning’s support, she channeled the skill through her Hell Longsword and cut through Hell White Tiger, defeating Dai Weisi and Zhu Zhuyun. 262

Fourth Soul Skill: Netherworld Multiple Shadow Clone

Netherworld Multiple Shadow Clone is Zhu Zhuqing’s fourth soul skill, acquired from the ten-thousand-year Ghost Tiger. It creates multiple tangible shadow clones that share memories with her. 169

  • The clones can operate independently while sharing information with Zhu Zhuqing. 169
  • She created two clones to lure Purple Thunder Rocs from Purple Thunder Canyon into Li Han’s Heavenly Gale Formation. 178
  • Her clones endured lightning attacks with Mystic Armor Talismans while serving as decoys for the formation. 179
  • Li Han noted that continued coordination between Zhu Zhuqing and Xiao Wu could potentially lead to a Martial Soul Fusion Skill. 169
  • Used two clones alongside her true body to attack Huyan Li from three directions during the Elephant Armor Academy match. 236
  • As a Soul King, she created three clones and coordinated all four bodies against Zhu Zhuyun and Dai Weisi. Their Hell White Tiger subsequently destroyed the clones. 261

Fifth Soul Skill: Hell Armor

Hell Armor is Zhu Zhuqing’s fifth soul skill, acquired from her thirty-thousand-year fifth soul ring obtained in the Star Dou Great Forest. It manifests full-body dark purple armor and a longsword. 258 262

  • Increases all her attributes by 100%. 262
  • Provides armored protection while supporting sword-based attacks. 262
  • Combined with Ning Rongrong’s supporting light and Mei Ning’s Fireburst Bun, raised her combat strength to a level comparable to a Soul Emperor and the opposing Hell White Tiger. 261 262
  • Allowed her to deliver the decisive Hell Sword Slash that broke the Star Luo Team’s Martial Soul Fusion Skill. 262

Right-Leg Soul Bone Skills

Zhu Zhuqing’s hundred-thousand-year Shadow Sabertooth Tiger right-leg Soul Bone grants two abilities suited to her offensive and agility-based fighting style. Its absorption also strengthened her body and slightly increased her Soul Power. 247

Skill Effect
Dread Sword Prison Releases an area-wide sword-qi attack with tremendous lethality. 247
Shadow Ghost Step Increases her speed by 200%. 247

Inverted Phoenix Nurturing Origin Art

Li Han imprinted this divine dual-cultivation art into Zhu Zhuqing’s mind as the basis of her accelerated cultivation. 135

  • Increases cultivation speed by at least double. 134
  • Helps refine medicinal power and absorb soul rings with exceptional efficiency. 135 137
  • Enabled her to safely absorb a two-thousand-year third soul ring beyond the normal limit cited for a third ring. 136 137
  • Supported her efficient refinement of the Singular Velvet Sky Pill and the successful absorption of a ten-thousand-year fourth soul ring. 167 169
  • She continued cultivating the art during her time with Li Han and reaffirmed her intention to help him through it after receiving her hundred-thousand-year Soul Bone. Their conversation reflected developing mutual affection, but did not establish that they had already undertaken dual cultivation. 247

Combat Training & Teamwork

  • Li Han assigned a Soul Elder-level puppet to spar with her, helping her quickly adapt to her newly increased strength and improve her combat experience before fighting Dai Mubai. 144
  • Her coordination with Xiao Wu pairs Zhu Zhuqing’s offense with Xiao Wu’s defense and support, as demonstrated against the ten-thousand-year Ghost Tiger. 168 169
  • Can combine her clone-based assaults with allied control techniques, attacking Huyan Li while Xiao Wu disrupted other Elephant Armor fighters with Charm. 236
  • Uses allied enhancement effectively; Ning Rongrong and Mei Ning’s support enabled her to confront and defeat a fusion skill whose power approached the Soul Emperor level. 260 261 262

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Shadow Gloves — High-grade magical gloves forged by Li Han from the sword fangs of a seventy-six-thousand-year Shadow Sabertooth Tiger. They possess formidable defense, increase attack power by 100%, amplify Soul Power output, reduce Hell Sword Slash’s Soul Power consumption by 30%, and can transform into claws or twin swords. 141 168
  • Mystic Armor Talisman — A talisman given by Li Han during his battle with the seventy-six-thousand-year Shadow Sabertooth Tiger; it enveloped Zhu Zhuqing in defensive black armor. Her shadow clones later used Mystic Armor Talismans while luring Purple Thunder Rocs. 138 179

  • Singular Velvet Sky Pill — Given by Li Han before the group entered the Star Dou Great Forest to obtain new soul rings; it helped raise her to the fourth-ring threshold. 166 167
  • Godly Travel Talisman — Given by Li Han for their journey toward Purple Thunder Canyon; greatly increased her travel speed while allowing them to avoid conspicuous aerial travel. 173
  • Hundred-Thousand-Year Shadow Sabertooth Tiger Right-Leg Soul Bone — Gifted by Li Han because of its compatibility with her Hell Spirit Cat. Absorbed before the tournament finals, it strengthened her body and granted Dread Sword Prison and Shadow Ghost Step. 247
  • Fireburst Bun — Supplied by Mei Ning during the confrontation with Hell White Tiger and used together with Ning Rongrong’s supporting light to enhance Zhu Zhuqing before her decisive attack. 261 262

Relationships

  • Li Han — Rescuer, cultivation guide, and benefactor. He treated her injuries, taught her the Inverted Phoenix Nurturing Origin Art, supplied pills and equipment, and supports her effort to change her fate. Zhu Zhuqing develops strong admiration and romantic feelings toward him, trusts his judgment in dangerous cultivation decisions, and follows his arrangements in battle. Their affection becomes mutual, and he gives her a hundred-thousand-year Soul Bone to help her overcome her fear of the Star Luo succession struggle. By the Grand Finals, her love for him is explicitly genuine rather than merely transactional. After defeating Hell White Tiger, she embraces him in gratitude and later chooses to remain with him after the tournament. 132 135 140 141 167 178 204 247 260 262 263
  • Dai Mubai — Former arranged fiancé and second prince of the Star Luo Empire. Zhu Zhuqing resented his escape from the empire and his self-indulgent life in Suotuo City; after defeating him, she declared their engagement dissolved. Dai Mubai refused to accept that decision, but was later killed by Li Han. She subsequently notices his unexplained absence from Shrek’s tournament lineup, without being shown knowing of his death. 131 143 144 145 219 235
  • Zhu Zhuyun — Elder sister. Zhu Zhuyun sent Soul Masters to capture Zhu Zhuqing after her escape from the Star Luo Empire. Zhu Zhuqing seeks to surpass her and escape the fate imposed by their family. Their rivalry culminates in the Grand Finals, where Zhu Zhuqing defeats her and Dai Weisi’s Hell White Tiger. After Dai Weisi offers to abandon Zhu Zhuyun, Zhu Zhuqing defends her sister’s dignity, recalls her childhood kindness, and ends their feud. Zhu Zhuyun apologizes, and Zhu Zhuqing responds that the past is over. 131 138 260 261 262 263
  • Xiao Wu — Close friend and “good sister.” They bond over their personal histories, then demonstrate effective teamwork against the ten-thousand-year Ghost Tiger. Zhu Zhuqing knows and protects Xiao Wu’s identity as a transformed hundred-thousand-year soul beast; the two later join the Heaven Dou Team together. Xiao Wu promises to support her against the Star Luo Team and openly celebrates her rejection of the imperial succession system, though she remains jealous of Zhu Zhuqing’s intimacy with Li Han. 146 158 168 169 191 258 260 262 263
  • Ning Rongrong — Heaven Dou Team teammate and fellow resident of Green Bamboo Cottage. Zhu Zhuqing’s cultivation and black fourth soul ring astonished Ning Rongrong when they first met in Heaven Dou City. Ning Rongrong later promises her full support against the Star Luo Team and provides timely enhancements during the battle with Hell White Tiger. 182 191 204 260 261 262
  • Mei Ning — Heaven Dou Team teammate and fellow resident of Green Bamboo Cottage. The two became acquainted after Zhu Zhuqing arrived in Heaven Dou City. Mei Ning supports Zhu Zhuqing’s effort to defeat the Star Luo Team and supplies the Fireburst Bun used during her decisive confrontation with Hell White Tiger. 182 191 204 260 261 262
  • Dai Weisi — Star Luo prince, Zhu Zhuyun’s fiancé, and an opponent associated with the succession struggle Zhu Zhuqing rejects. She defeats his fusion skill with Zhu Zhuyun in the Grand Finals. When he proposes replacing her sister with her as his fiancée and future empress, she slaps him for betraying Zhu Zhuyun and belittling her, refusing both his offer and the imperial competition. 134 260 261 262 263
  • Qin Ming — Heaven Dou Team teacher. He briefs the team on the Star Luo opponents and their fusion skill, supports the students’ preparations, and recognizes Zhu Zhuqing and her companions as an exceptionally talented group. 260
  • Parents — Despite rejecting the destiny imposed by her family, Zhu Zhuqing retains affection for her parents. She asks Zhu Zhuyun to convey her regards and intends to visit them after becoming a Titled Douluo, returning as their daughter rather than as an imperial claimant. 263
