The Xiao Family is a leading Wutan City clan, though Xiao Zhan considers it insignificant when compared with the greater powers of the Jia Ma Empire. Its leadership nevertheless aims to expand the family beyond the city and secure sole dominance there. 9 10

The family invited Chu Yang to its residence after Xiao Zhan learned that he possessed a Qi Gathering Pill and might be an alchemist. Recognizing both the prestige and strategic value of an alchemist, Xiao Zhan treated him with exceptional deference despite uncertainty over his background. 9 10

Chu Yang's arrival shifted the family’s position in Wutan City.
