Obito hadn't had much contact with Ye Ning. He only knew that Ye Ning had a highly distinguished status and was also Kakashi's elder.
It was said that Ye Ning had taught Kakashi his Lightning Release Ninjutsu.

"Have you seen Kakashi and Rin?"

"What? Surprised?"

"How do you know that Madara Uchiha... is still alive?"
"I don't just know that the person who took you was Madara Uchiha. I also know that he's dead now, and I know everything about his plan."
