Their connection?
Ye Ning had no idea who would be coming, so he decided not to think about it anymore.
As expected, food came first.
Who cared who was coming? Nothing mattered more than eating!
"By the way... Minato, it's been so long, and we still haven't gone to visit Big Sis Tsunade. Isn't that a little bad?"
A loud, carefree voice came from outside the barbecue restaurant.
Just hearing it was enough to imagine what kind of person the speaker was.
Soon, three people walked into the restaurant.
Ye Ning, seated facing the entrance, noticed their faces at once.
The woman at the front had beautiful, fiery red hair, with a hair clip in the bun on her left side. A bracer covered her left wrist. She strode inside with such a brisk air that she seemed to do everything in a rush. At her side walked a black-haired kunoichi, about the same height but much gentler in her manner. It was obvious that she had the exact opposite personality from the red-haired woman.
Behind the two women was a blond shinobi with a well-proportioned build. A faint smile rested on his handsome face, making him easy to like.
Their identities immediately became clear.
The woman in front was Konoha's current Nine-Tails Jinchuriki and the mother of the original protagonist, Uzumaki Kushina!
Her fiery red hair was simply too distinctive.
The blond shinobi behind her was, of course, the hugely popular Yellow Flash, Minato Namikaze!
As for the black-haired girl...
Ye Ning couldn't remember much about her.
The only person who came to mind was Sasuke's mother, Uchiha Mikoto.
Weren't the two of them best friends?
"Minato, do you think we should visit Big Sis Tsunade's house after dinner?"
"I've tried a few times, but I couldn't get in. The other shinobi stopped me outside the clan compound every time." Minato gave a bitter smile, looking helpless.
Nawaki had been their classmate, but he'd died on the battlefield during the Second Shinobi World War.
As his classmates, they were all heartbroken. Tsunade, Nawaki's older sister, must have been even more devastated.
Hearing them talk about Tsunade, Ye Ning glanced at her. She remained indifferent, drinking by herself.
"Are they the people you said were coming to keep you company while you drink?"
Tsunade rolled her eyes without replying.
Just then, Uzumaki Kushina seemed to notice Tsunade. Her eyes lit up, and she excitedly pulled Minato and the girl who appeared to be Uchiha Mikoto over with her.
When they reached the table, Kushina first gave Ye Ning a curious once-over, then sat down beside Tsunade without the slightest hesitation and leaned toward her.
Still, Kushina knew where to draw the line. She didn't try to comfort Tsunade. She just took a bottle of wine and poured herself a drink.
Kushina moved with such effortless ease that Ye Ning stared at her in amazement.
Minato could only give Ye Ning an apologetic smile, then sit down beside him with a slightly awkward air.
Tsunade, Kushina, and Mikoto were sitting on the other side. He couldn't exactly squeeze in beside them, could he?
Tsunade shot him a sidelong glance but didn't react much. She simply said, "Since you're here, have a drink with me. It'd be strange to drink alone with a kid sitting here."
Ye Ning: "..."
Seriously?
You had to take a jab at me too?
"Mikoto, want some as well?"
Kushina shook the bottle toward the girl beside her, asking almost absentmindedly. To her surprise, Mikoto snatched the bottle right out of Kushina's hand. She didn't pour any into a glass, either. Instead, she copied Tsunade and drank straight from the bottle.
Where had that ladylike demeanor from a moment ago gone? She was drinking with such abandon!
Ye Ning was stunned.
Was this Uchiha Mikoto?
The gentle Uchiha Mikoto from the original story, who devoted herself to her husband and children?
Huh?
She was almost as wild as Tsunade!
So they'd gotten another boozehound?
Uchiha Fugaku... did you know your wife was this wild when she was young?
Ye Ning suddenly realized he'd stumbled upon a golden opportunity to make a fortune.
The alcohol in Naruto's world was so weak, yet these shinobi drank it with such enthusiasm.
If he brought out the liquor from his previous life—the stuff that was over forty percent proof, like Erguotou and Niulanshan—wouldn't everyone in the Naruto world go crazy fighting over it?
Of course, it was only a thought.
If he stopped studying ninjutsu to brew alcohol, he'd have to be as drunk as Tsunade.
Across from them, the three boozehounds drank with gusto. The two men on this side could only look on helplessly.
Minato had joined them for a few drinks at first, but after a few glasses he wisely stopped.
At this rate, it'd be strange if they didn't get drunk. Someone had to stay sober, right?
If they all got drunk and passed out in the street, they'd make fools of themselves.
Since he couldn't drink anymore and couldn't talk them into stopping, Minato could only shift his gaze with a helpless sigh and strike up a conversation with Ye Ning.
"My name is Minato Namikaze. These are Uzumaki Kushina and Uchiha Mikoto. May I ask who you are? I don't think I've ever seen you in Konoha."
Though Minato phrased it as a question, there was nothing unpleasant about his tone. On the contrary, listening to him speak was like basking in a warm spring breeze.
No wonder the original story called him the "little sun."
Ye Ning couldn't help admiring his natural warmth.
"My name is Ye Ning. It's no wonder you haven't seen me. I only arrived in Konoha yesterday."
Only just arrived in Konoha?
Minato's heart jumped, and he immediately grew wary.
Having lived through the Cloud Ninja incident a few years earlier, he almost instinctively thought of a spy. But then he wondered why a spy would be eating at the same table as Lady Tsunade, and realized at once that he'd probably misunderstood.
Though no one noticed his thoughts, an awkward smile crept across Minato's face, and his cheeks flushed faintly.
Ye Ning couldn't help finding it amusing.
Who'd have thought Minato had been such a shy young man? That was unexpected.
Even more unexpected was that a somewhat shy guy like him would later pull off a moonlit embrace with a girl.
"There's a bit of a family connection between Tsunade and me. I came to Konoha just to try to comfort her."
Minato immediately understood.
Then he lowered his voice, dipped his head, and said softly, "Lady Tsunade was in a terrible state before. She shut herself inside her house for months, only coming out now and then to buy alcohol. She wouldn't see anyone who came to visit. If you can, I hope you'll do your best to comfort her."
As he spoke, he seemed to realize that whispering about her right in front of her wasn't very appropriate. He kept glancing up now and then, looking like a guilty thief.
