Conan had just come downstairs, yawning, when he heard Mori Kogoro, standing in the office, wave his hand as he put the phone receiver back and planted his hands on his hips smugly.

Conan was rather speechless at his behavior and could only exchange a look with Ran Mouri.

Last night's "family gathering" had been fairly warm, or rather, with several children present, Mori Kogoro and Eri Kisaki had not broken into any further arguments.

Perhaps because of the earlier case, or perhaps because the mood had been right, after Tangze excused himself to get dessert and took Ran Mouri and Conan away from the table, the atmosphere between the two of them had looked rather ambiguous from afar.

So it was hardly surprising that Mori Kogoro was in exceptionally high spirits at work the next day.

"He's getting carried away," Ran Mouri commented. Shaking her head, she still picked up the teapot to boil some water.

No matter which of the three clients turned out to be the ultimate winner, someone would have to come to the office to continue the unfinished commission from yesterday. Tea for the guests still had to be prepared.

"You found Mr. Itakura already, Uncle?" Conan sat down on the sofa with his breakfast sandwich. "That was pretty efficient..."

It was not particularly strange for Mori Kogoro to quickly locate someone whom several programmers had failed to find.

As a private detective, Mori Kogoro had always been quite competent at his actual job. In other words, he had grown accustomed to this sort of investigation and groundwork when he had been a police detective, which was why he later decided to become a private detective.

Solving murder cases, on the other hand, was not his strongest
