Neither Ran Mouri nor Mori Kogoro had become, or were likely to become, Red Faction experts capable of standing against the Organization. That was why they rarely got involved in the main storyline.

Even late in the story, when they had nearly become victims of Gin's gun, they still knew nothing about the Organization. They were protected entirely by protagonist plot armor.
