Background / History
Gin personally vetted Tang Ze’s entry into the Organization under the identity of Akechi Goro. In an armed safe house, he supplied forged credentials, required Tang Ze to destroy his own dossier after reading it, and scrutinized his conduct throughout the test. He also agreed that Shigeyoshi Tonokuchi could be eliminated as payment if the mission succeeded. 78
He continued to direct operations in Tokyo, assigning Akechi Goro and Bourbon to investigate the Shinkansen bombing and its possible connection to Shuichi Akai. His investigations and orders regularly put him at odds with both agents, whose sarcasm and improvisation he considers disruptive. 100 169
After Shiho Miyano’s defection, Gin took charge of the hunt for Sherry. He treated her escape from an Organization gas chamber as a major breach, pursued leads personally, and later confronted Joker while mistaking him for Sherry. Conan ultimately tranquilized him during that rooftop confrontation. 177 261 262
Gin acted as the Organization’s principal cleaner during the fallout from Pisco’s failed operation. He interrogated Kenzo Masuyama at gunpoint, pursued Irish after the latter was compromised, and ordered a sniper to shoot Irish for the memory card in his hand rather than prioritize Irish’s survival. 265 822 823
During later conflicts, Gin coordinated attacks on the Twin Towers and led operations surrounding Kir’s recovery from Haido Central Hospital. His efforts to eliminate Shuichi Akai were repeatedly undermined by deceptions involving Kir, Conan, and Kumeru. 728 1118 1124 1125
He remained involved in Organization operations overseas and at sea, voicing open contempt for Rum’s methods while continuing to pursue Sherry and investigate Kumeru’s suspicious behavior. 1228 1256
Appearance
Gin is a very tall man whose black clothing, long silver hair, and cold presence make him immediately recognizable. His metallic-silver hair is unusual enough that Tang Ze speculates it may be connected to the Organization’s experimentation. 78 551
- Long silver hair, sometimes worn beneath a hat. 1256
- Usually dressed in black, including a long coat. 78 122
- Frequently smokes cigarettes while giving orders or assessing subordinates. 78 1122
- Commonly associated with a Porsche, which is recognizable enough for Akai and Conan to use as a lead to locate him. 1124
Personality
Gin is controlled, intimidating, and relentlessly suspicious. He evaluates subordinates through their behavior rather than accepting explanations at face value, checks internal records to verify claims, and treats even successful allies as potential security risks. 78 169 1154
His ruthlessness is governed by Organization logic rather than personal loyalty. Failures, exposed agents, and compromised assets are expendable if removing them protects the Organization. This extends to codenamed members such as Irish and Curacao. 128 822 1154
Despite his hostility toward colleagues, Gin is not indiscriminate in his judgments. He recognizes useful talent, considers Kumeru a dangerous but valuable weapon, and refuses to act against members without sufficient evidence. 1107 1154
Gin dislikes internal political maneuvering, particularly Rum’s schemes and Bourbon’s attempts to form his own faction. He sees the Organization as a hierarchy determined by the Boss’s will, not seniority or factional influence. 602 698 1228

Cognitive Counterparts
The Organization’s cognitive defenses can manifest versions of Gin inside Palaces. These entities act as sentinels or guards rather than simple reflections of a Palace owner’s opinion; they appear to incorporate Gin’s own cognitive power and possess independent behavior. 625 1260
| Palace / Location | Form | Capabilities and Role |
|---|---|---|
| Kenzo Masuyama’s Palace | Roman-style gladiator | Fought Tang Ze with a sword concealing a gun; after its mask was removed, it transformed into a colossal form that encircled the arena with its arms. 235 237 238 |
| Furuya Rei’s Palace | Cleaner / scavenger | Wore a white cleaning uniform, mask, and cap while moving through the Palace with a human-sized trash bin; its role reflected Gin’s access to restricted areas and his function as a security mechanism. 625 |
| Shuichi Akai’s Palace | Training targets and combat imagery | Gin’s image appears throughout Akai’s combat-oriented Palace as sniper targets, dartboards, and sandbags, reflecting Akai’s fixation on confronting him. 735 |
| Binga’s Palace | Armored charioteer and labyrinth guardian | Wields a sword, a returning spear, and a war chariot. After being wounded, it begins a second-phase transformation as numerous blue-lit forms approach through the collapsing maze. 1260 |
Relationships
- Vodka — Gin’s longtime subordinate and frequent partner. Gin relies on him for driving, equipment, and support, but regularly scolds him for carelessness and unauthorized decisions. 78 1178

- Rum — The Organization’s second-in-command. Gin distrusts Rum’s manipulative methods and regards questions about Akai’s death as an insult to his own competence. 1102 1150
- Irish — A subordinate Gin considered expendable once compromised; Gin ordered his shooting during the Tokyo Tower incident. 822 823
- Binga — A rival who bears a longstanding grudge after Gin publicly beat him during an earlier Organization gathering. Binga later imprisoned a cognitive Gin in his Palace’s labyrinth. 1239
