"Taiji Tatsumi, the deceased, fifty-eight years old, president of a video game company." Wataru Takagi reported to Juzo Megure as he crossed the police cordon. "The body was discovered by employees from the same company. They were planning to take the elevator back to the company to retrieve something when they found the body inside."

"What were they going back to get?" Juzo Megure pulled out his notebook and casually began asking about the first discoverers.

"Oh, this company occupies floors twenty-four through thirty-six of the Central Building. Today was the twentieth anniversary of its founding, and they went back to retrieve the flower bouquets needed after the event." Wataru Takagi, having completed his preliminary inspection, answered smoothly. "The elevator was exclusively for their company as well."

"The deceased's clothing is quite disheveled." Looking down at the scene, Juzo Megure stroked his chin. "Was the killer after money, or perhaps searching the deceased for something?"

"It is still unclear whether the deceased lost any valuables. However, all the employees present said they had not heard a gunshot, so this floor may not have been the murder scene." Wataru Takagi answered truthfully. "According to the employees, the president said he was feeling unwell midway through the event and intended to return to the company to rest."

"So it is also possible that someone broke in to steal while the company was empty, only for the deceased to unexpectedly take the elevator down... After shooting him, when employees needing to go downstairs called the elevator, the body came up with it." Juzo Megure analyzed along those lines.

"No. If the killer had a weapon and intended to rob him or something similar, he could have simply used the gun to force the deceased to leave with him and led him somewhere deserted
