The heavy bang of the door slamming interrupted Tangze and Sonoko Suzuki's conversation. Both of them looked toward the doorway at the same time.
"What's wrong, Ran? Are you feeling sick somewhere?" Sonoko stood up with concern and moved closer to her friend.
Ran Mouri had kept her head lowered, making her expression impossible to see. That only made Sonoko more worried.
At the touch of Sonoko's dry, warm palm, Ran seemed to suddenly snap awake. She lifted her head sharply and met Tangze's gaze.
She instinctively looked away, panic creeping uncontrollably into her voice. "N-No, it's nothing. Maybe the cold water got to me..."
Remembering what she had just seen, she bit her lip and glanced again at Jodie-sensei, slumped over the table. Her heart was in turmoil.
Why? Why were there photos like that, and why had they been pasted inside Jodie-sensei's bathroom?
This was Jodie-sensei's single apartment. They had confirmed that when they suggested holding the farewell party at her place. In other words, all those densely packed photos behind the mirror belonged to Jodie-sensei.
What was she doing? Collecting information related to Tangze? And what were those notes written on her photo and Conan's photo about?
Especially the ones concerning Akechi Goro...
Their eyes met again. After briefly considering the direction of Ran Mouri's misunderstanding, Tangze chose to curve his eyes and offer her a gentle, friendly smile.
After seeing so much shocking information at once, Ran Mouri's brain had probably overloaded. No matter what emotion he showed, she would only interpret it according to her own assumptions.
Sure enough, upon receiving his smile, Ran Mouri hunched her shoulders slightly, clearly adopting a defensive posture.
