"Are you sure the suspect was male?" Sitting in the driver's seat, Miwako Sato glanced at Ayumi Yoshida in the passenger seat while they waited for the light to change.
"I'm sure. When I ran into him, I heard him yell. He was definitely a man!" Now much calmer, Ayumi nodded firmly.
"So you heard him speak. Hmm, but if it was only a shout, that might not help much. Did any of you happen to record it?" Thinking of these remarkably unusual elementary schoolers, Miwako looked hopefully toward the back seat.
"Not exactly. Ayumi wasn't carrying any recording equipment." Conan, who actually did have a voice recorder on him, explained, "Ayumi ran into him first by herself. We only came over after hearing the stabbed woman and Ayumi scream."
"That's a shame..." Even though she had only been taking a shot in the dark, Miwako had not expected much. "Still, prioritizing your own safety was the right choice."
"It would've been nice to have a recording..." Ayumi muttered, lowering her head to look at her knees thoughtfully.
Maybe I should suggest to Professor Agasa that he add recording functions to the Detective Boys' badges?
Unaware that her casual remark had once again inspired some new piece of black technology, Miwako turned the steering wheel and stopped at the intersection near 2-Chome.
"Other officers are already at the scene keeping the residents away, so you don't need to worry..." As Miwako tried to reassure the children, she looked at the crowds layered three deep on either side ahead of them. Her words gradually slowed until she finally stopped.
It was normal for police tape and human barricades to draw onlookers, but this many people was a bit too much...
Could something have happened up ahead?
Frowning, Miwako gave the other
