Kenji Hagiwara recovered from a bout of dizziness, still somewhat dazed, but he had already reflexively taken a step toward his friends.
"Are you short-handed? Why did you suddenly call me over... here..."
As he understood it, there were already so many people in the Phantom Thieves of Hearts who had awakened their powers. As an ordinary person, there was only so much he could help with in those flashy, mental-level battles. Normally, there would be no need to specifically summon him, the team's water-cooler guy.
But once he opened his eyes and saw the scene before him clearly, the question trailing after his words naturally vanished.
Before them stood a gigantic neon archway that reminded him of things he would rather not remember. It had a retro Broadway style to it; no explanation was needed. Just looking at it made him feel like there ought to be a circus tent beyond it.
Yet behind that archway, past several robots whose faces were utterly blank as they endlessly repeated their welcome messages, were stairs leading straight to amusement rides.
Beyond the path below, and the stalls on either side selling all kinds of unspeakably ridiculous souvenirs and snacks, was a very simple roller coaster cableway entrance that could be accessed with a card swipe.
All right, he took back what he had just said.
Looking at the complicated, twisting tracks behind the cableway, he sincerely wondered, "Why does it have tracks if someone still has to drive it...?"
"Who knows." Akemi Miyano had a takoyaki ball in her mouth, bought from one of the stalls. Its color was deeply concerning, and it was covered in ketchup nearly the color of blood. "Maybe this is Suehiko Ito's 'creativity.'"
As she spoke, she casually showed him what they were holding.
