This line had not actually been intended for Cuba. The American military had spent heavily to build the telegraph line from New Orleans to Washington in order to prevent an invasion by Mexico or some other country.

Yet now it unexpectedly proved useful, though this was beyond Zachary Taylor's understanding.

"This is fake! It's a trap! Don't be fooled!"

"Mr. President, you are wrong! You can no longer keep up with this era. You are no longer qualified to lead America. I am now impeaching you!"

It had long been expected that Millard Fillmore would seize the opportunity to force the palace, and everyone was waiting to see Zachary Taylor make a fool of himself.

The latter now realized that he was the discarded pawn. His stomach ailment flared up again. This time, it truly hurt, but no one cared; many even thought he was putting on an act to win sympathy.
