As soon as Franz issued the order, the public naturally approved of it wholeheartedly. However, they hoped the Duke of Wonic would be arrested first, since he had already frightened them badly.

Naturally, Franz would not support such an impudent demand. In fact, the reason he had issued this order was to warn Vienna's reckless speedsters.

That was right. Although automobiles had yet to become widespread in the Austrian Empire, reckless speedsters had already appeared ahead of schedule.

Though most bureaucrats and nobles scoffed at Josef Ressel's new vehicle, the younger generation of the nobility flocked to these half-tracks like ducks to water.

Quite a few of them happened to have the chance to get close to these vehicles, and so these exhibition pieces were stolen.

Having acquired new toys, the young men naturally had to show them off properly. Yet they absolutely did not dare race about wildly within the city—at least, not during the day.

Whenever night fell, these speedsters would tear through the city in search of thrills. They knew what they were doing was improper, so they paid out plenty of hush money.

But Franz had only just cleaned up Vienna, and no one dared accept that money at all.

And so, that money somehow ended up sitting directly on his desk. Franz nearly laughed in anger.

A bunch of people with more energy than sense, simply stirring up trouble when they had nothing better to do. Still, they had reminded Franz that the laws truly were not comprehensive enough.

He now gave these young men two choices: obey the law, or get lost to the colonies and make trouble there.
