The next day, a list was placed on Franz's desk. He had already guessed the names on it, though there were also some small fry he simply could not remember.

But one thing surprised Franz: quite a few names had little to do with Bohemia. These people had no interests in Bohemia, nor were they deeply entangled with the local great families and nobility.

For them to be dragged into this, Franz could only conclude that the great families and nobles had long since joined forces, each one beginning to prepare for a rainy day.

This left Franz somewhat helpless. He had always worked to lead the nobles in making money, to help them rise higher. Yet these people had actually turned around and used their new knowledge and the money they had earned against him.

But it did not matter. Franz had never expected them to obey obediently in the first place. Now that the international situation was stable, it was the perfect time to knock them down one by one as they stuck their heads out.

That promising young man had been making a racket in prison, demanding to see Franz, but Franz had no intention of giving him the chance.

Franz had no interest whatsoever in hearing that sort of tale of misery. If he wanted to listen, he probably would not finish even in a lifetime. There were simply too many people in this world with hardships of their own.

There had been fourteen assassins in total, including the two operators who piloted the airship. Which one of them did not have some grievance or hardship?

With this stroke of his blade, Franz had no idea how many family lines would be cut off, or how many people would be cast adrift. He truly had neither
