About half an hour later!
The clanging of the hammer finally ceased. Feng Tianyu gasped for air, the crimson hue in his eyes gradually fading until they returned to their original amber-brown.
He was drenched from head to toe, sweat soaking through his clothes and forming a puddle at his feet.
A wave of exhaustion washed over him from every fiber of his being; Feng Tianyu's physical strength was essentially spent.
Despite the fatigue, the sense of fullness that came with his enhanced physique left Feng Tianyu feeling immensely satisfied.
Compared to before, his physical fitness had at least doubled!
And this was only after consuming a single piece of Whale Rubber; he still had nine more in his possession.
Although the benefits of the Whale Rubber would diminish with each subsequent use, finishing the remaining nine would undoubtedly propel his physical condition to a new level.
Feng Tianyu's voice was somewhat hoarse:
"Many thanks to Dean Qian for your guidance!"
In truth, Qian Duoduo didn't need to go to such lengths; he could have simply suppressed Feng Tianyu and let him digest the Whale Rubber slowly.
However, Qian Duoduo had taken a hands-on approach, guiding the delirious Feng Tianyu in forging to vent the scorching energy within him in a different way. This allowed him to absorb the Whale Rubber effectively without wasting his own vital essence.
Qian Duoduo said with a smile:
"It was no trouble! Learning to craft a Soul Tool begins with forging. Once you can hammer out a qualified piece of soul metal yourself, you can consider yourself a competent apprentice."
"The rough piece of soul metal you hammered today is ruined, but you can take it with you later to ponder your mistakes."
"Your rhythm was inconsistent—sometimes heavy, sometimes light—which left the soul metal with an uneven texture. Not only is the surface bumpy, but the interior is riddled with fine cracks. A piece of soul metal like this is unfit for crafting a Soul Tool."
Feng Tianyu looked down at the mangled piece of soul metal, which looked like it had been chewed on by a dog; it was truly an eyesore.
Still, it was his first time forging, and he would improve with practice.
Since he possessed a Body Martial Soul, forging would also serve to train his body. He could add weights later to fully tap into his physical potential.
This would lay a solid foundation for attaching soul rings to his Body Martial Soul in the future.
"I will practice diligently!"
"By the way, Dean Qian, where is the washroom? I need to rinse off this sweat; it's sticky and very uncomfortable."
Qian Duoduo pointed in a direction:
"Follow the corridor to the end and turn left."
Feng Tianyu tried to set the hammer down gently, but it hit the floor with a loud thud. His right arm was so sore it felt numb and trembled uncontrollably; he simply couldn't hold onto the hammer any longer.
He let out a long breath and dragged his exhausted body toward the washroom.
The water from the pipes in the washroom was cold, but Feng Tianyu didn't mind. He had just consumed the Whale Rubber, and his body was still radiating heat; the cold water turned into mist the moment it touched his skin.
Amidst the swirling steam, Feng Tianyu stripped off his soaked clothes and scrubbed himself from head to toe with the cold water.
Back in the studio!
Qian Duoduo noticed Grey Wolf, who was busy examining the finished and semi-finished Soul Tools, and a look of genuine interest flashed in his eyes.
An externalized martial soul—though it appeared as an anthropomorphic grey wolf, its movements and expressions were like those of a living person standing right before him.
A sentient martial soul!
With this thought crossing his mind, Qian Duoduo strode over and looked down at Grey Wolf.
Qian Duoduo stood over two meters tall, while Grey Wolf was only a little over a meter.
Grey Wolf was the same height as Feng Tianyu; how tall Grey Wolf would grow in the future depended entirely on Feng Tianyu's own growth.
But for now, the meter-tall Grey Wolf looked up at the mountain-like Qian Duoduo, startled into taking several steps back as it bared its claws and teeth.
Qian Duoduo grinned. As a Title Douluo of the defense system with 94 levels of soul power, Grey Wolf posed no threat to him whatsoever.
He crouched down and asked with great interest:
"Your name is Grey Wolf, right? Can you understand me? Learning Soul Tool technology requires more than just simple intelligence."
Under Feng Tianyu's tutelage, although not yet proficient, Grey Wolf had already gained a basic understanding of the language and script of the Douluo Continent.
It lifted its head, baring its large mouth, its wolf face filled with pride as it spoke somewhat haltingly:
"Do not... underestimate... this Great King... It only took... this Great King... two days... to learn... the basic language and script... I even read the introduction to Soul Tools this morning... this is not difficult for this Great King at all!"
Hearing this, an unprecedented, burning light erupted in Qian Duoduo's eyes. A miracle—this was absolutely a miracle! A sentient martial soul capable of communication that could even teach itself Soul Tool technology through books.
"Oh! You even study on your own? To what extent do you understand Soul Tools?"
Grey Wolf, also piqued by interest, began to explain its understanding of Soul Tools:
"Soul Tools are divided into three categories: long-range, close-combat, and auxiliary."
"Long-range Soul Tools are mainly soul cannons and soul guns, which compress soul power to fire energy projectiles and energy beams."
"Close-combat Soul Tools are mainly blades, spears, and swords, which can carry elemental attacks or special effects like paralysis and reflection."
"Auxiliary Soul Tools are all-encompassing: defensive Soul Tools, flight Soul Tools, storage Soul Tools... all sorts of varieties."
Qian Duoduo listened as Grey Wolf spoke with such clarity. He was inwardly amazed by Grey Wolf's learning ability and couldn't help but add:
"Haha, your learning ability is impressive, but the books you've been reading are a bit outdated. The hottest topic in the spirit master world right now is the Fixed-Station Soul Tool."
"Fixed-Station Soul Tools consist of two parts: a launcher and a projectile, characterized by low consumption and high destructive power."
"To give you an example, a Level 5 Soul Master can use a Level 6 Fixed-Station Soul Tool to threaten a powerhouse at the Soul Saint level."
"A Level 7 Soul Master can use a Level 8 Fixed-Station Soul Tool to threaten a powerhouse at the Title Douluo level."
"Firing a projectile through a launcher doesn't consume much spirit power; the power comes primarily from the projectile itself. By engraving thousands of core arrays within a tiny shell, connecting them in series and stacking them together, you create terrifying, unparalleled destructive force!"
"Our Soul Guidance Department is also vigorously developing Fixed-Station Soul Tools, though we have currently only developed up to Level 8 soul shells..."
Grey Wolf listened with dwindling interest, a deep sense of disdain rising in his heart:
"Isn't this just cannons and shells? I could hand-craft these with gunpowder alone. A bunch of bumpkins who haven't seen the world, using miraculous soul guidance technology and vast amounts of rare metals just to make these one-time-use shells—it's a complete waste."
"The most miraculous thing in this world isn't the martial spirits or spirit rings; those are merely derivatives. The truly miraculous thing is spirit power, and the heaven and earth energy that can be converted into spirit power—it's essentially an infinite energy source."
"What restricts the development of technology has always been the energy problem. With endless energy, as long as one masters the method of converting energy into spirit power, and then allows that spirit power to change its form through core array circuits, the power unleashed would be capable of destroying everything."
"To actually use massive resources to create disposable shells—a bunch of country bumpkins. I can't find common ground with them."
"As long as my vision is realized, dominating this world will be a breeze."
"I just hope that by then, I'll be able to find a way back home..."
Grey Wolf was no ambitious schemer; his greatest wish was simply to return to the Green Green Grassland and be back by his wife and son's side.
