A little after seven in the evening.

At an altitude of nearly ten thousand meters, a passenger jet from a German airline flew steadily toward its destination.

"Ladies and gentlemen, good evening."

"We will now be serving dinner and a variety of beverages. We hope you enjoy them."

"If you require any assistance, we will be happy to serve you at any time."

"Thank you."

As the pre-dinner announcement sounded, the passengers in the cabin grew somewhat noisier.

But that noise had nothing to do with first class.
