The Lion King's coronation ceremony was over, but the cheerful festivities had not stopped. The city was still as lively as before.
Smiles still filled the people's faces, and the envoys from every kingdom had not left. They were still staying in Camelot.
There was only one reason: at the very end of the coronation ceremony, Leon had suddenly announced something.
"Once the coronation ceremony is over, my wedding to Princess Morgan will be held. I ask that all envoys remain and witness this great occasion for Princess Morgan and me."
The envoys smiled and offered their congratulations, but inwardly they were fuming. They would have to prepare wedding gifts too. How could they afford to squander so much money?
After the day's ceremonies ended, Leon returned to his bedroom, brimming with satisfaction. Before he went to bed, Morgan gave him two gifts.
"This bracelet is a Mystic Code I made with my own hands. It carries a Fairy's blessing. Wear it, and it will bring you good luck."
Morgan took out a silver bracelet and placed it on Leon's wrist herself.
"Morgan, you're wonderful."
He knew nothing about Magecraft and had no idea how valuable the bracelet was, but seeing that Morgan had made him a gift with her own hands filled him with genuine happiness.
Just as he was about to make a move, Morgan took the hand she was holding and placed it on her stomach.
Through the fabric, Leon could feel the chill coming from Morgan's body. She smiled softly, a tender glow on her face.
"Leon, I'm pregnant."
What?!
Morgan's brief words struck Leon like a bolt of lightning. He stood frozen in place.
Morgan repeated herself, and only then did he come to his senses.
He gingerly stroked Morgan's stomach and asked again, unable to believe it. When she confirmed it once more, Leon was beside himself with joy. He wanted to share the good news with his father and brother right away.
But Morgan stopped him. "They all drank quite a bit at the banquet tonight. Let them rest for the night. We can tell them this wonderful news tomorrow."
"You're right. Absolutely right." Leon was so happy that he nodded along with whatever Morgan said.
No wonder Morgan had been urging him to hold the wedding as soon as possible, even having him announce it today and schedule it right after the coronation ceremony. This was the reason.
By the Emperor, Leon could only feel that today was his lucky day. One good thing after another had fallen from the sky, leaving him dizzy.
Today, he had not only been crowned king, but had also taken up the Holy Sword, annexed new lands, and received the enemy chief's head. And now, at the end of the night, Morgan had given him an incredible surprise.
Across two lifetimes, this was his first child.
Even past midnight, Leon was still too excited to sleep. His mind kept turning to what his child's future might hold and what they should name them... With Morgan in his arms, gazing at her delicate sleeping face, he felt utterly happy.
The next morning, Leon woke up unusually late.
Merlin was waiting in a side hall with Kay, Artoria, and a corpse that looked like Ferrus Manus.
"Teacher, why did I have to play along with the act yesterday? He could have just taken the throne."
Artoria looked as pure as a lily. The knightly education she had received since childhood made her dislike such false pretenses, though she accepted that they had their place.
Political theater—she understood that much. She was only asking Merlin to let off steam.
Merlin simply smiled and let Artoria vent.
The Artoria of old would have kept herself tightly controlled, paying close attention to every word and gesture. She would never have been so carefree.
Watching his younger sister, so much more relaxed now that a heavy burden had been lifted from her shoulders, Kay felt relieved too.
This is exactly what I'd hoped for.
"By the way, there's something I want to tell you two..."
Bored, Merlin sidled up to them and spoke in a conspiratorial tone. But as soon as he began, Kay clapped a hand over his sister's ears to keep her from hearing.
At the same time, he glared at Merlin as if he wanted to kill him.
Merlin was talking about what his Clairvoyance had shown him over the past couple of days: the way Leon and Morgan had been together.
He had brought it up for his own amusement, but Kay genuinely didn't dare listen.
He had finally made some progress with the Lion King, and his sister had received permission to live freely. He did not want the Lion King to make a note of this incident and hold it against them.
The Lion King was not known for her good temper.
Artoria pried Kay's hands away and shot Merlin a look. She wanted to say that she already knew, and had even seen it for herself. But remembering the look on her sister Morgan's face that day, she decided to keep quiet.
When Leon arrived with Morgan, he found the three of them already playfully tussling.
"Your Majesty, you're quite late today."
Merlin teased him, but Leon didn't mind. He couldn't hide the smile on his face.
"Have my father, my brother, and all the ministers come to the council chamber later. I have important news to announce. For now, we should deal with Vortigern's corpse."
Leon kept them in suspense for the moment, then looked over at Vortigern, now cosplaying as old Ferrus Manus. His head had been separated from his body, and the wound Leon had made in his chest had healed completely, leaving not even a scar.
With such incredible regenerative power, how had he died just because his own subordinates had cut off his head?
Leon voiced his confusion, and Merlin explained, "Someone used Magecraft to imprison his soul inside his head. The caster was highly skilled."
Leon looked to Morgan for confirmation. She nodded, agreeing with Merlin.
Since both of the Greater Mages at his side agreed, that had to be the answer.
According to Merlin, the way to purify Vortigern's corpse was very straightforward.
Burn it!
Reduce the corpse to ashes, scatter them in the sea, and send his soul to Avalon. With the planet's mystery fading, he would never be able to return to the present world.
When Leon heard this, it felt like something straight out of the Middle Ages. But he had another question. "Can't we just destroy his soul completely?"
Merlin was speechless.
Morgan rolled her eyes at him and explained, "The Vile King is Britain itself. His soul and will are deeply bound to the island. To erase his soul, we'd have to destroy the entire island."
Leon understood.
The usual over-the-top Type-Moon setting.
While Vortigern's soul slept, Merlin and Morgan joined forces to send it to the distant Avalon. His corpse was burned to black ash in the flames.
Curiously, this time Leon didn't smell that nauseating fragrance.
Once Vortigern had been reduced to ash, Leon had the remains gathered up and ordered two units of his own men, who had followed him for the past three months, to scatter them.
Watching the Vile King's remains being collected, Merlin still couldn't bring himself to believe that the White Dragon had died so easily...
Leon saw Merlin's concern at once, but didn't think much of it. They had done everything they could: sealed Vortigern's consciousness, sent his soul to another realm, destroyed his corpse, and scattered his ashes in the sea. If Vortigern could still cause trouble after all that, then it was simply fate. Leon would have to admit he was quite a character.
"Don't worry, Merlin. Even if he really has a fallback plan, there's no need to fret. I can wipe him out with one hand."
"Wow! As expected of our Lion King. How mighty! Truly awe-inspiring and reassuring."
Leon frowned at Merlin's strange tone, looking completely baffled. "What's with that tone? Did Vortigern drive you insane? Have you finally lost your mind?"
"No, it's nothing~" Merlin wore an inexplicable smile, giving no clue what he truly thought.
Once everything was settled, Morgan ignored her younger sister Artoria and told Leon she was leaving before heading straight out.
Leon led everyone to the council chamber.
It was packed with people. The ministers had hurried over as soon as they received Leon's order, each wondering what important matter he had to discuss.
After Leon had been crowned king the day before, he had promptly granted lands and titles to all the ministers and soldiers, putting their minds at ease.
The four lords who had followed Leon from the moment he drew the sword received the largest territories and highest titles. People had even started calling them the Four Nobles that very day. Beneath them were Joe, Kay, Merlin, and the two princesses of the late king.
But no matter how high their titles or how vast their lands, all these ministers could do in the council chamber was stand around the Round Table.
Leon sat down, then said just one thing, setting everyone's emotions ablaze.
"Morgan is pregnant—with my child!"
His words sent the atmosphere in the hall into an uproar.
The crowd's voices rose together as everyone began talking at once. His father and brother hurried forward, asking, "My king, is that true?"
The importance of an heir to a political power was self-evident. Leon confirmed it. "A king never lies."
Luther was overjoyed. He immediately led the others in shouting their congratulations.
"Congratulations, my king!"
"Congratulations, my king!"
Whether their joy was genuine or feigned, the ministers all looked delighted for Leon.
"Let us celebrate together!"
Leon knew that most of these ministers had opposed his marriage to Morgan. Some of those opposed were even his own father and brother.
That didn't mean his father and brother wanted to defy his wishes or stop him from marrying the woman he loved. The problem was that Morgan's reputation in Britain was terrible, and marrying her would bring Leon far too many disadvantages.
Morgan herself was a liability!
But Leon had been determined to marry Morgan, and no one dared advise him against it. Only Luther and Joe could use their family ties and standing to bring it up once or twice, and even they didn't dare press the matter... Today, Leon was using this as an opportunity to hurry those who had opposed the marriage along.
"Then let's hold the wedding as soon as possible."
"As you command!"
After Leon's urging today, they would surely put some real effort into the preparations.
In fact, after more than half a day had passed, Leon was still excited, but he could once again think as calmly as he usually did.
There was only one thing on his mind now.
Could a Primarch reproduce naturally?
