When Leon led his army back to Camelot, Luther and a group of noble ministers welcomed them again outside the city.
"What's this?"
When Luther saw Scathach behind Leon, his brows knit slightly, his face full of confusion.
Leon introduced her to Luther. "Father, this is Scathach, Queen of the Land of Shadows. She became my teacher during my expedition to Ireland and taught me Rune Script."
Became... his teacher?
Leon's words were a little ambiguous, but Luther still understood what his son meant.
No wonder the mysterious woman with her face covered gave him a faint sense of danger. She was the famed God Slayer of Ireland, after all.
Luther had heard the stories about Scathach: she was the teacher of the great heroes Cu Chulainn and Fergus, skilled with twin spears and peerless in martial arts, as well as ruler of the land of the dead.
A woman as proud as her was now following obediently behind his son. She must have been defeated by him.
He nodded to the renowned mentor of heroes. The boy's father and teacher had now made each other's acquaintance.
Although Scathach's face was covered and Luther had never seen her before, he could tell she was beautiful—and an exceptionally dangerous woman.
After getting into the carriage with Leon, Luther glanced back at Scathach and couldn't help worrying about his son's taste in women.
First, there was the vicious Morgan, like a venomous snake; now there was Scathach, cold as a blade.
Luther was genuinely afraid that one day Leon would go too far and end up dead without even a body left behind.
Faced with his old father's concern, Leon assured him there was no need to worry. There might be beings in this world who threatened his life, but these two women certainly weren't among them.
"You're worrying too much, Father. I only regard Scathach as my teacher; I have no improper intentions toward her. Besides, once she's taught me Rune Script, I'll kill her."
A teacher who taught Rune Script?
Sure you will!
Since Leon had made up his mind, Luther let the matter drop and instead brought him up to date on affairs at home and abroad over the past few months. The only concern was that a new power had risen on the continent across the strait, calling itself Rome and showing little goodwill toward Leon's Britain.
"Rebuilding Rome? Lucius, the Sword Emperor?"
Leon remembered that, in the history of his previous life, Eastern Rome still existed in Europe during this period, while Western Rome had already collapsed and split into several remnant states. There had been no ruthless figure who rebuilt Rome in such a short time.
And in the many versions of King Arthur's story, there was also a Roman emperor named Lucius. But he was usually just a supporting character defeated by King Arthur, there to highlight Arthur as the perfect sage king.
But Leon was in the Moon World now, and he had no idea what sort of changes some mushroom had made to Lucius in this world.
He hoped Lucius still had his manhood.
Besides that, Luther also had some news for Leon.
"The Queen is about to give birth. It should happen in the next few days, which is why she couldn't come to welcome you."
Luther hated Morgan and thought she was a bad person who would harm Leon, but he was very fond of the child she carried.
With the Lion King's heir on the way, their political faction would finally be truly secure.
Beyond politics and affection, Luther also hoped that having a child would make both Morgan and his son Leon more settled.
"Mm, I figured it was about time."
Leon had been keeping track of the dates. With Morgan's due date approaching, he had returned early, hoping to be there when the baby was born.
Before they reached the city, Leon suddenly heard children singing outside the carriage.
He lifted the curtain and looked out. More than a hundred children stood on either side of the road, singing praises in ringing voices. Their clear voices blended into something almost sacred.
Leon listened closely. The song praised his achievements in uniting the three regions of Britain and his bravery in charging into battle. It called him the chosen king, blessed by the gods, who would win victory after victory and rule the earth forever.
After Leon finished listening, Luther explained, "These are all common folk who came of their own accord to congratulate Your Majesty. We couldn't stop them."
"Good. Reward them generously."
Leon didn't believe they had come of their own accord, as his father claimed. The officials below were probably just eager to get ahead. Still, seeing this scene made him happy.
Even if it was just a show, it was better than doing nothing. He was willing to turn a blind eye and not look too closely.
After passing through the cheering crowds lining the streets of the royal city, Leon returned to the palace. He briefly met with the ministers, arranged quarters for Scathach, then hurried with Gawain to Morgan's bedchamber.
Morgan was half-reclining on the bed. When she heard Leon had arrived, she hadn't even gotten up before he strode inside.
"Today is a joyous occasion, the day of my king's triumphant return, yet I couldn't come out to welcome you. I ask my king's forgiveness."
Morgan tried to rise and curtsy, but Leon hurriedly stopped her. "There's no need. You're about to give birth, so your health comes first. Take good care of yourself."
"I know my own body. I'm not that fragile. I should still congratulate my king on his great victory. You conquered Ireland in such a short time. You truly are the wise and mighty sovereign of Britain."
"Haha, with my abilities, it was naturally a piece of cake."
Leon laughed smugly. Behind him, Gawain's eyes widened at Morgan's words, and he stared at his mother in disbelief.
She'd actually said something so gentle. Was this really his mad, vicious mother?
Gawain then looked at Leon in disbelief, too. His mother was one thing, but could this man really be the invincible Lion King from the battlefield, the stern ruler who had punished more than a hundred knights under military law? He looked so happy just to receive a compliment.
For a moment, Gawain didn't know whether to admire the Lion King for making his mother so kind, or to think more highly of his mother for having tamed the Lion King so completely.
Having a child could change someone this much?
But when he and Agravain were born, their mother hadn't been this gentle. If anything, her personality had grown even worse.
Unable to understand it, Gawain could only chalk it up to the world being full of strange things.
"By the way, I could see that Agravain was meticulous, so I left him in Ireland to help Kay with his strength in handling administrative affairs."
Whenever he saw Morgan, Leon made sure to tell her how her two sons were doing, so she wouldn't worry.
He then brought Gawain forward for Morgan to get a good look at him.
"Gawain has done very well, too. He charged into battle with me and won plenty of spoils. He's now a Centurion in my army."
Gawain immediately saw what Leon was trying to do and grumbled inwardly. His mother wouldn't worry about him or Agravain. She regarded the two brothers as tools to use and had no affection for them at all.
He was grateful for the kindness of Leon, his nominal father, but he really didn't need it. Still, since he'd already been brought forward, he could only grit his teeth and speak for both himself and Agravain, who hadn't returned, as he greeted Morgan.
Morgan nodded, putting on a pleased expression. "Good. You two brothers are both making use of your talents and helping Leon. It couldn't be better."
Gawain forced himself to chat with Morgan for a few moments, offering his good wishes to her and the unborn girl.
Because of his mother Morgan, he couldn't say he was particularly fond of his new sister. But because of Leon, he didn't dislike her, either.
As he left, Gawain prayed that his unborn sister wouldn't be as twisted as their mother or as harsh as the Lion King. He hoped she'd be ordinary.
After Gawain left, Leon picked up the ointment beside Morgan and applied it to her round belly. A sudden idea struck him.
"Morgan, does this ointment restore skin elasticity? Can it be mass-produced? And what about its effects on beauty?"
Morgan looked at the ointment in Leon's hand. She had casually made the magical potion for herself; it could erase stretch marks and restore her skin to its pre-pregnancy firmness.
"It's a magical potion, so mass production wouldn't be easy. But it should be possible if we change the ingredients. As for its effect on beauty, I haven't tried it, but it should be much the same."
Morgan was naturally beautiful and had always been well aware of her looks. She had never worried about her appearance.
You could call her evil, but you couldn't call her ugly.
Hearing this, Leon came up with a plan.
They said women's money was easy to make, and there wasn't a woman who didn't care about her appearance. He would put together a merchant caravan and sell the product across Europa to earn money for grain, while also gathering intelligence on the countries of Europa for future expeditions.
