"Turn thirty degrees left!" Meng Tao's warning exploded through the headset.

Lin Yuan jerked the steering wheel on instinct. He trusted Meng Tao completely.

The off-road vehicle immediately skidded sideways, and almost at the same moment, the second wave of lightning chains crashed down from the sky.

This time, five bolts of lightning descended in a spiral formation. The two closest ones detonated on either side of the vehicle, and the electromagnetic field they created made every metal object inside begin to tremble.

The metal buckle of the seat belt vibrated at high frequency, producing a death-knell-like "click-clack" sound.

Lin Yuan knew he was not absolutely safe, because the protection offered by the "Faraday cage effect" was not without flaws.

The Faraday cages displayed in science museums could withstand countless electric shocks and remain safe throughout.

But those were specially designed experimental props, while the vehicle he was driving was a composite of metal, rubber, glass, and various other materials.

After an off-road vehicle was struck by lightning, the current could be directed into the ground, but structural changes to parts of the vehicle caused by the extreme heat were unavoidable.

If some part collapsed from the heat and broke the Faraday cage effect, then he could face the consequences of taking a lightning strike with his own body at any moment.

"Lin Yuan, the discharge channel warning index has already exceeded its limit! You have to take protective measures against this wave of lightning!" Meng Tao roared through the headset again.

Lin Yuan glanced at the dashboard. The shielding index had already surged into the red zone.

Without hesitation, he pressed the red button on the center console. A hydraulic hum rose from beneath the vehicle.
