Background / History

Dai Mubai is the Third Prince of the Star Luo Empire. His struggle against the eldest prince, Dai Weisi, is tied to a succession system in which defeat can mean losing his claim and facing assassination. His engagement to Zhu Zhuqing is also strategically important: he believes their Hell White Tiger fusion skill is essential to defeating Dai Weisi and securing the throne 52 53 155.

In his previous life, Dai Mubai became the God of War, and Zhu Zhuqing was his wife. Ma Hongjun recalls witnessing him forcibly abduct a goddess who had ascended from another world, with Oscar encouraging him. These recollections establish that his abuse of power predates his reincarnation 30 33.

After recovering his divine memories, Dai Mubai immediately tries to reclaim his former relationship with Zhu Zhuqing, whose memories remain sealed at that point. He grips her wrists painfully and reacts violently when Ning Rongrong intervenes, treating the women as people who should submit to his former divine status 30 31 53.

Appearance

  • Eyes: Repeatedly described as “evil” or charming; after his memories return, their expression becomes intensely possessive 30 31.
  • Clothing: Wears white during the confrontation with Zhu Zhuqing following his awakening 30 31.
  • Martial soul possession: Black-and-white fur covers his body, his muscles enlarge, his stature increases, and his hands become tiger claws 155 156.
  • Forehead marking: A black “King” character appears when he activates White Tiger possession 156.

Personality

Dai Mubai’s pursuit of the throne shapes both his alliances and his treatment of Zhu Zhuqing. He recognizes that becoming emperor would increase his value to Tang San, and he repeatedly seeks reconciliation with his fiancée because he needs their fusion skill. Zhu Zhuqing rejects these appeals as attempts to use her as a tool for power 52 53.

His possessiveness becomes violent when challenged. After recovering his memories, he restrains Zhu Zhuqing despite her protests and launches an unrestrained soul-power attack at Ning Rongrong for intervening. His continued brothel visits further undermine his attempts to regain Zhu Zhuqing’s trust 25 31 53.

He can endure humiliation when it serves his ambitions. At Heaven Dou Royal Academy, he restrains his anger because he wants its cultivation resources; later, he suppresses his frustration while pleading with Zhu Zhuqing. That restraint collapses under immediate danger: facing two Soul Saints, he deliberately pushes her into their path and flees 87 155 156.

His admission of wrongdoing does not end his self-justification. Before the Star Luo match, he still argues internally that fleeing was unavoidable. After defeating Dai Weisi, he attempts to kill him, imagining that imperial power will silence his critics and force Zhu Zhuqing to become his empress 160 166 169.
