Background / History

Qian Renxue was born to Bibi Dong and Qian Xunji. Bibi Dong associates her daughter with Qian Xunji and the trauma surrounding her birth, leaving Qian Renxue emotionally neglected from infancy. She is raised primarily by Nurse Zhou and other attendants rather than by her mother. 1 2 3

At age three, Qian Renxue waits eagerly for Bibi Dong’s return to Martial Soul City, only to see her mother arrive carrying the infant Luo Dong. When she calls Bibi Dong “Mama” and asks about him, Bibi Dong coldly orders her back to her room. 2

Bibi Dong’s increasing tenderness toward Luo Dong intensifies Qian Renxue’s feelings of exclusion. She secretly watches her mother learn from Nurse Zhou how to bathe and raise Luo Dong—care she herself never received—and repeatedly cries in private. 5 6 10
