Background / History

Qian Xunji is the Pope of Martial Soul Hall and the father of Qian Renxue. He is part of the Qian Family’s Angel God lineage; Qian Renxue is regarded as a future Angel God inheritor and potential next Pope. Though he dotes on his daughter, he leaves her living with Bibi Dong in the hope that their relationship might improve. 2

Bibi Dong’s hatred of Qian Xunji stems from the trauma he inflicted upon her. She seeks strength specifically to kill him and repay the humiliation and suffering she associates with him. Qian Daoliu acknowledges that his son wronged Bibi Dong, but neither publicly punishes Qian Xunji nor gives her justice. 1 3 11

By the time Bibi Dong returns to Martial Soul City with Luo Dong, Qian Xunji is aware that she bears deep hostility toward him. He does not consider the then-Level 83 Soul Douluo capable of resisting his own Level 95 strength, but continues to have her watched and restricts her freedom outside the city. 2 3

Personality

Qian Xunji is controlling and suspicious, particularly where Bibi Dong is concerned. He treats the assignment of Chrysanthemum Douluo Yue Guan as protection in name but surveillance in practice, seeking to discover what Bibi Dong is hiding. 16 19

He is also arrogant and prone to underestimating opponents. He considers Bibi Dong’s victory over three Soul Douluo credible only because he believes she remains near Level 85, unaware that she has already become a Level 91 Titled Douluo. 16 21 24

Qian Xunji possesses Level 95 soul power, placing him among the highest-ranking combatants in Martial Soul Hall. 2

As Pope, Qian Xunji commands Martial Soul Hall personnel and directs major operations.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Bibi Dong’s Return

Qian Xunji learns that Bibi Dong has returned from a supposed spirit-ring hunt carrying an infant, Luo Dong. He recalls that she had no need to hunt another ring after obtaining her eighth, but had not stopped her from leaving. 2

Elder Hall Mission Assignment

During the Elder Hall meeting, Qian Xunji participates in planning two operations: a pursuit of Tang Hao and the elimination of three evil Soul Douluo. He attempts to place Yue Guan alongside Bibi Dong, ostensibly to ensure her safety but actually to observe her. 16

Surveillance and Deception

Qian Xunji orders Yue Guan to trail Bibi Dong during her mission. After witnessing Bibi Dong instantly defeat the three evil Soul Douluo and ascend to Level 91, Yue Guan lies to the Pope, claiming she fought a difficult battle lasting roughly half an incense stick. 19 21 24

Failed Hunt for Tang Hao

Qian Xunji personally leads Martial Soul Hall’s attempt to capture Tang Hao and the Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast traveling with him. Despite extensive defenses, Tang Hao escapes into the mountains after injuring three Soul Sages. 16 23 24

Continuing Political Threat

Following Yue Guan’s false report, Qian Xunji remains wary of Bibi Dong but concludes that her strength is still within expectations. He therefore fails to recognize that she has already surpassed the level at which she fears him directly. 24
