Is That True?

There was no need to worry that Beerus would lose and go back on his word. As a glutton... Ahem, I mean, as a god with principles, he would definitely keep his promise!

Beerus could tell that the shriveled little bean in front of him was no ordinary bean. He picked one up and tossed it into his mouth, crunching away. His eyes suddenly widened. "Mm, it really is good! Smooth and fragrant, with a satisfying chew!"

Then, with a swift motion, he tipped the entire small dish of Senzu Beans into his mouth.

Seeing this, Sun Yu raised an eyebrow, feeling immensely pleased with himself. Nice try. So what if he's the God of Destruction? He still fell right into my trap!

The two of them continued to stuff themselves. By now, Sun Yu was nearly at the end of his rope. Fortunately for him, Beerus was in even worse shape. The Senzu Beans had clearly taken effect; Beerus's belly bulged high, and he was relying on sheer willpower to keep going and avoid defeat.

Sun Yu glanced at Beerus, whose throat was nearly overflowing with food, and raised an eyebrow. "I'm saying, if you can't manage it, just stop eating and admit defeat!"

If looks could kill, Beerus would have murdered Sun Yu a million times over in his mind. This puny creature, weak as an ant, had repeatedly challenged his dignity. But if Beerus had to choose again, he would still accept Sun Yu's challenge without hesitation. The food was just too delicious!

At that moment, one plate of takoyaki remained in front of each of them. In other words, whoever finished their takoyaki first would win the eating contest.

"Kid, you don't look like you can keep going either. If you lose, I'll make sure you die without a burial place!" Beerus growled, then shakily reached out and picked up a takoyaki with a bamboo skewer.

The little octopus balls gleamed with golden oil, and their enticing aroma carried from afar. Yet even with such an unprecedented delicacy before him, Beerus wanted to taste it but could barely manage to open his mouth. He was afraid that if he did, he'd throw up everything he'd eaten.

It's rare to get something this delicious. I can't lose! A cold glint flashed in Beerus's eyes. He abruptly shoved the takoyaki into his mouth, then tipped his head back and struggled to swallow it.

Sun Yu wasn't about to fall behind. At the same time, he speared two takoyaki and swallowed them in one bite.

The two of them leaned back in their chairs, utterly limp, breathing heavily.

"Kid, if you admit defeat now, I promise I won't destroy you. How about it?" Beerus gazed weakly at Sun Yu. He felt as if the food in his stomach was about to reach his throat.

"Hmph. I'd rather die than lose! This challenge isn't about life or death; it's about a food connoisseur's honor!" Sun Yu said, then suddenly sat upright, picked up the remaining plate of takoyaki, and tipped it into his mouth.

"You... You bastard!" Seeing Sun Yu dump all the remaining takoyaki into his mouth, Beerus refused to accept defeat and suddenly unleashed a powerful aura that made heaven and earth tremble.

A purplish-red aura instantly enveloped Beerus. Sun Yu's heart lurched. He couldn't sense even the slightest trace of energy, but the terrifying sensation of heaven and earth collapsing nearly stopped him from breathing.

Mortals couldn't sense a god's energy, but the divine might still reverberated through heaven and earth.

"Holy crap! Is that really necessary? They're just a few takoyaki! You actually had to unleash your full power!" A thousand wild horses stampeded through Sun Yu's mind. Suddenly, he felt that the plate of takoyaki in Beerus's hand had lived a worthwhile life, because the one about to eat them was a god—a god unleashing his full power just to eat them!

Wasn't this the very definition of using an atomic bomb to kill a mosquito?

It all happened in the blink of an eye. When Sun Yu saw Beerus unleash his full power, he too picked up his plate and tipped the remaining takoyaki into his mouth. He didn't even bother chewing, simply swallowing all the takoyaki in one go.

"Gulp, gulp..."

Most of the crowd had already left. Watching someone else eat delicious food could make you hungry, after all, so they'd all gone home to their families. Only a handful of people remained, along with Whis and the mother-daughter pair, Lana and Hill.

They kept their eyes fixed on Sun Yu and Beerus, because the final result was about to be revealed. Would Planet Vegeta be allowed to scrape by, or would it be destroyed ahead of schedule?

"Gulp!" "Gulp!"

The two of them swallowed their last takoyaki at the same time. Sun Yu slumped helplessly into his chair, thinking that a god's body really was something else. If he hadn't cheated by feeding Beerus a dish of Senzu Beans, he would've lost completely. A tie was a pretty good outcome, wasn't it?

Beerus also let his divine aura fade and dropped into his chair, rubbing his belly as he silently digested the food.

Just then, Whis walked over and glanced at them. "It seems the results are in. Congratulations, sir—you're the winner of this contest!"

"Hey, Whis! Did they bribe you? It was clearly a tie, and you still declared him the winner! Explain yourself!" Beerus yelled furiously.

"That's right. They did bribe me!" Whis admitted, taking a small box of Hoi-Poi Capsules from his pocket and waving it in front of Beerus.

He actually admitted it! He shamelessly admitted it!

"But the verdict is still fair," Whis explained. "You've forgotten that I ate two puddings from your pile of food at the start. So you had less food than this gentleman."

"Damn it! I ate half a watermelon too. Why don't you mention that?" Beerus flew into a rage.

"Hey, nobody made you eat it. You chose to eat it yourself. How's that my fault?" Sun Yu said, spreading his hands with an innocent look.

"Hmph. I won't stoop to arguing with you mortals." Beerus turned his face away, his expression as haughty as could be.

Sun Yu noticed that even after he'd just needled God of Destruction Beerus, Beerus hadn't gotten angry. It seemed the temptation of good food really had brought them a little closer. Taking advantage of the moment, Sun Yu boldly walked over and draped an arm over Beerus's shoulder. He raised an eyebrow. "We really ate our fill today. Let's pick a time to get together and have another feast. Don't worry, buddy—my treat!"

At first, Beerus had strongly disliked Sun Yu's familiarity. The little bit of goodwill they'd managed to build had vanished in an instant. But after hearing Sun Yu's offer, Beerus's ears twitched. He turned and quietly asked him, "You mean it...?"
