Li frowned. "Do you know who the person who escaped from the specimen room was?"
Li was extremely curious as well. The person—or rather, specimen—inside the shattered transparent chamber in the specimen room had vanished. And the only intelligent living being they had found here was Gulman, so he was the only one they could ask. Behemoth had originally sealed away a group of powerhouses in that specimen room, individuals strong enough to flatten the entire continent, yet now all of them had died within their seals.
How could that not frustrate Li?
If he could gain control over that group of powerhouses, unifying the continent would be within reach.
Gulman gently shook his head. "I've never left this place. Although I know there's no longer much defensive power here, I can't control how long I remain in any given form. If I left and encountered danger while in another form, I'd have nowhere to cry about it."
Li nodded slightly. Then, all of a sudden, he felt the ground tremble. Gulman's expression changed as well. An earthquake? That was impossible! If there had been any sign of an earthquake nearby, powerhouses of their level would have sensed it immediately. Yet this tremor had appeared in an instant. It did not seem like an earthquake at all, but rather as though someone had used some kind of magic.
Li slowly closed his eyes, then shook his head. "No, it's not magic. There are no traces of anyone using large-scale magic nearby. This..."
A thought suddenly flashed through Li's mind. Could it be self-destruction? Countless science fiction novels had such a plot: a group of explorers discovered a secret treasure trove, but before they could take the treasure, the place activated its self-destruct system...
Li gritted his teeth. "Damn it, Timaria
