Li frowned at the man. "What do you mean? Strange? What's so strange about it?"
The man froze for a moment, then furrowed his brow. "Don't you know that all three of those types of magic are heretical paths? Repeated use of spacetime magic will gradually disrupt this world's temporal order. Using the power of magical beasts will gradually make people lose their true nature. As for the power of the dark night, while it isn't as dangerous as the first two, it is still magic of a negative attribute."
Li gave a short laugh. "Then what kind of magic do you use?"
"Holy Light!" the man declared. He slowly raised his left hand, and as he did, a golden glow took shape in his palm. It truly was light, and in Li's eyes, it was incredibly pure—almost as though it were nothing more than pure light itself.
Yet for some reason, Li sensed a trace of danger within that light. Although it could never hurt him, he could feel an inexplicable power hidden inside it.
The Judgment Army! The thought flashed through Li's mind, and he blurted it out.
A flicker of surprise crossed the man's eyes before he cried out, "Heavens! You actually know the illustrious name of our Judgment Army! May I know your name?"
"Li," Li said. "Though some people outside also call me August."
Li had mentioned the name August in the hope that the other man would back off. After all, he was currently wanted by the Ankhseram Church, and he could not be bothered to provoke the man before him.
The Judgment Army was a pack of lunatics. They believed that this world was impure, that every form of magic other than Holy Light-specialized magic was false and violated the laws of the
