Time passed quickly. In the blink of an eye, the group had traveled deeper into the desert for another three days or so. But things were different now. Li could no longer use his strength freely, since Bar was beside them. He could not casually reveal his astonishing power yet, or Li truly feared he might accidentally scare the man into infantile paralysis.
As a result, Li could no longer casually set down the barriers and restrictions he had arranged at night before. After all, Bar was no fraud—he would be able to tell their quality at a glance.
So Li suggested that they start taking turns keeping watch at night. In truth, if not for what happened that night, who knew how much longer it would have taken them to find Behemoth's ruins.
They kept watch in pairs at night. Li and Azshara were on guard that evening. Nothing happened at first, but later, Azshara's expression turned very unpleasant.
When Li asked her about it, Azshara said in a low voice, "I smell something unpleasant."
That answer left Li blank for a moment. What did she mean by an unpleasant smell?
Azshara then explained, "The smell of beastmen."
Beastmen? Li suddenly recalled the lord of the Southern Continent he had encountered within Ankhseram Temple.
But before long, Li sensed that nauseating odor as well. Or rather, it was not a smell, but an aura—an aura that made one want to vomit. Azshara said from beside him, "They are descendants of a branch of beastmen. When they were traveling toward Behemoth's lands, they could no longer endure, so they abandoned their sanity and chose to fall into depravity."
As Azshara spoke, a figure appeared before them. It had a massive humanoid body, at least three meters tall at a glance.
