Hinata's expression changed slightly. "What's wrong?"
Toneri merely shook his head lightly. "I'm just feeling a little unwell. This is proof that the Byakugan is evolving into the Tenseigan. I'll be fine after resting for a bit. It's nothing serious."
As he spoke, Toneri slowly lowered the hand covering his eyes. The eyes revealed beneath were already different from the Byakugan. Toneri's eyes had originally looked as though his Byakugan was fully activated; although the veins around them were not bulging, the focal points at the centers of his eyes could be seen clearly.
But now, a reflective layer had appeared over Toneri's eyes, and they had taken on an overall cyan-blue hue.
Then the scene before Li gradually faded away. Li frowned. "Not enough power?"
The connection between Li and Naruto's body had never been particularly close, after all. He had only controlled this body for a short while. Everything he used now had to draw upon the power within Naruto's body, while his true body could only slowly transmit some of its own energy over as replenishment.
If it were merely ordinary combat, there would be no problem at all.
Naruto was like a bucket, while Li was a reservoir. But this reservoir could only send water over through a thin pipe. If they were merely drinking the water in the bucket under normal circumstances, there would be no issue.
But now, Naruto's bucket had been kicked over and spilled. Although Li had quickly managed to refill it somewhat, he was starting to find it difficult to keep using abilities that consumed enormous amounts of energy in this situation. Nor did Li dare increase the transmission rate too much. If he was careless, Naruto's body might be crushed apart by the pressure.
