But Layla clearly hadn't brought Li here to see that. She gently kneaded a ball of light in her hand. Rather than a ball of light, it was more like some unknown crystal. The crystal looked murky and dull, yet in Layla's hand, it glimmered with a faint purple radiance. The glow was incredibly weak; only in this world of undead would it be visible. If taken into a normal world, natural light would make anyone think it was nothing more than a stone.
After Layla kneaded the crystal for a while, countless fine threads surged out from it. The threads targeted the zombie fragments on the ground. The moment each thread touched a piece, it burst into furious flames. In less than a moment, every trace left by the zombie had been wiped clean. Meanwhile, the crystal in Layla's hand became a little more refined, and its glow a little purer.
Layla opened her mouth as though blowing at the crystal. Then, the crystal slowly transformed into something like a mass of liquid. Li stared, his mouth hanging open. In his eyes, Layla was no more than a skeleton.
Though Layla was far too intelligent for a skeleton, she was still only a skeleton.
No matter how strong a skeleton was, could it really fly into the heavens? Yet in Li's eyes, Layla truly seemed about to do just that.
Everything Layla displayed could no longer be described as mere magic. This was alchemy. And as far as Li knew, alchemy had two fundamental laws: equivalent exchange, and seeking answers within a circle.
If Layla had used that zombie's body to refine this mass of highly pure liquid energy, then where was the circle? Layla glanced at Li and slowly swallowed the liquid into her skull. In an instant,
