Hello, fellow book friends.
I knew the recent stretch of the story had made for an awkward read. I read every comment in the comment section carefully, the good and the bad. To be honest, some of them really cut deep—but they cut where they should, and they were right to. This standalone chapter wasn't here to ask for votes or preview the plot. I just wanted to lay everything out and have an honest talk with you all, to make clear what was in my heart and what surgery I was carrying out on the story.
Having reached the point of over sixty chapters, I was actually panicking inside. When I first wrote it, I crammed in all kinds of original concepts and foreshadowing threads that I thought were clever, trying to make the story less "formulaic." But once all those things piled together, even though the plot itself didn't seem to have any major problems, what I wrote wasn't the kind of thing readers wanted to see. It wasn't that original content shouldn't be written—it was that I chose the wrong timing and the wrong dosage. At a point where I should have kept delivering the core thrills, I forcibly served up a plate of cold appetizer.
After realizing the problem, I made a fairly drastic decision starting last week: to rewrite it. To all the longtime readers who were still stockpiling chapters, still watching from the sidelines, or had even dropped the book but were willing to give it one last chance, please take a few minutes to reread the newly revised Chapters 4 through 7, then tell me how you honestly feel. Has the pacing come back? Any specific feedback—even if it's just tearing into it—as long as you hit the mark, is a lifesaver to
