Tyrande Whisperwind lived up to expectations. After leaving the Temple of Elune, she immediately offered several suggestions regarding the Scythe of Elune.

After the War of the Satyr, Malfurion had used the Scythe of Elune to forcibly banish the Druids of the Scythe—who had become Worgen and fallen into madness because they could not control Goldrinn's power—into the Emerald Dream and seal them away. Tyrande believed they might be able to replicate that event today.

They would find a Druid who was not asleep, use the Scythe of Elune to breach the Emerald Dream's barrier and send him into the Dream. After he investigated the situation, they would use the Scythe again to summon him back out, just as it summoned Worgen.

Using the Scythe of Elune's power to break into the Dream was manageable, but summoning someone back out of it while ensuring they could investigate what was happening inside was rather difficult. Still, difficulties were meant to be overcome.

After consulting among themselves, the Druids ultimately chose a Kaldorei Druid named Broll Bearmantle. He was renowned for his exceptional talent and the pair of antlers he had been born with.

The Druids believed that antlers growing from one's head signified the favor of Cenarius, King of the Forest, and a blessing from nature.

In Kaldorei society, only Malfurion had earned Cenarius's recognition later in life through his own achievements. Broll Bearmantle, however, had been born that way. He had therefore been hailed as a prodigy from birth and was especially beloved by Remulos, Cenarius's eldest son.

Remulos had even given Broll a statue imbued with his own power and linked to a Green Dragonflight member. This drew even more attention to Broll among the Druids. Unfortunately, his abilities had remained mediocre until the Horde crossed the sea and
