Standing on the roof of a side courtyard, Zul'ra watched the massive faceless creature pass below him, brushing past his shoulder. His breathing quickened, and his mind involuntarily grew muddled, enveloped by a bizarre aura. But then, that strange aura was shattered by the sound of crying.
"Who is that?" Shaking off the bizarre aura clinging to him, Zul'ra watched the faceless monster ignore him as it passed through the courtyard beside him. In the enormous clawed hand of its thick left arm, it clutched a crying female Kaldorei.
"It's heading for the sanctuary." Airulin had not noticed her fellow Kaldorei in the faceless creature's grasp. Instead, she cried out in alarm, because the monster was crossing the city straight toward the Temple of Elune at the heart of Darnassus.
"What the hell is this thing? Where did it come from? And who exactly is the person it captured?" Zul'ra was at a loss. Should he help? Helping others was a good thing, sure, but if he did not understand the situation first, who knew what might happen? There were far too many cases of kindness being repaid with enmity.
"I don't know either, but we have to stop it now. We can't let it destroy the sanctuary." After Zul'ra had brought her onto the roof and narrowly avoided the faceless monster's attack, Airulin watched the creature head directly toward the sanctuary and repeatedly insisted that they had to stop it.
"Stop it, right?" Zul'ra could not help asking.
"If the sanctuary is destroyed, the power of the curse will spread even further through Darnassus. That looks like Astalia." Airulin gave Zul'ra a hurried explanation. At the same time, she looked at the Kaldorei the faceless monster had already carried away and uncertainly called out a name.
