In Konoha Year 37, the Second Shinobi World War ended. Most people were happy; after all, the war was over. Though some had lost family and friends in the war, it was still, on the whole, something worth celebrating.
However, our protagonist Shiro was not very happy. (I know this name is ugly, but I'm bad at naming things...) That was because he had not killed enough! Of course, it was not because he was a pervert, but because the system had not been fully repaired yet.
That's right, Shiro was a transmigrator—and a high-class transmigrator at that! Because he had a system!!!
Shiro had transmigrated here two years ago. When he woke up, he had become a five-year-old child. Heaven pity him, he had only been an ordinary person. He had just graduated and had not even worked for a full year. His parents were alive and well, he had never complained about the unfairness of the world, and he had been satisfied with his life. By all rights, he had not met the conditions for transmigration at all, yet he had still transmigrated.
He had been "voluntarily" brought here by the Grand Servant System. As for why he had ended up in the Naruto world, it was because the system had been blown apart by some big shot from the Type-Moon world. Yes, blown apart! Despite having such an impressive name as the Grand Servant System, it had been beaten to pieces, so it had quit the group and come to the Naruto world.
Shiro did not know much about the system's original functions. He only knew that it could summon Heroic Spirits and grant him all of their abilities. Pretty awesome, right? But!!! That was the original system! The current system only had its enhancement function and a damaged Heroic Spirit Card—Shirou Emiya. Even the enhancement function could only raise the upper limit.
Fortunately, the Heroic Spirit Card had retained most of its power. After Shiro fused with it, he gained Shirou Emiya's Reinforcement Magecraft and Projection Magecraft. There were some flaws, such as needing to train on his own and not having Unlimited Blade Works. After all, that was Shirou Emiya's Reality Marble, like the Mangekyo Sharingan. But what more could he ask for? Even if it was not as strong as before, having it was still better than not having it.
Besides, without the system, Shiro would have died in this war. Though the original owner of this body had not been worthless, he had not been any sort of genius either. At best, he would have become a Chunin in the future, perhaps a Special Jonin if he reached his limit. Yet he had been forced to graduate early and sent to the battlefield.
Therefore, Shiro was already quite content. Besides, it was not impossible for the system to recover. It merely required a massive amount of energy. That was why Shiro felt so depressed—the system had already repaired itself by nineteen percent, and the enhancement function was just about to return.
"Ugh, this sucks. Well, at least I survived." Shiro was only saying it aloud. After all, people died in wars.
"Sucks? What, is something making you unhappy? Tell us so we can be happy about it." Shiro's captain, Yamada Nakamura, teased him from the side.
"Yeah, yeah, tell us about it. Hehe!"
"..." Shiro stared at his teammates with dead-fish eyes.
Seiyu, you've changed. You used to be so cute. How did you change after getting together with Chosuke? Hmm, Chosuke must have taught you! "Go away. Don't disturb me. I want some peace and quiet, and don't ask who Quiet is."
"Haha, then let's dismiss for today. Remember to gather at the training ground tomorrow. I'm going to find my wife too. Shiro, take your time walking home alone. Hahaha!"
"..."
"One day, sooner or later, I'll burn you all to death."
Shiro's team was similar to the future Team 7: two boys and one girl, with one boy and one girl getting together. Unfortunately, Shiro was the Naruto of the group. He was even worse off than Naruto. Still, the resemblance was only structural. Their captain, Yamada, was only a Chunin, and all three team members were civilians with fairly average talent. Otherwise, they would not have been assigned to the same team.
Before he knew it, Shiro had returned home.
"I'm back."
"Shiro, you weren't hurt, were you?"
"Hmph, what injury could he have gotten? He only did logistics work. If you keep spoiling him like this, when will he ever grow up? He chose this path himself, so even if he has to crawl on his knees, he must walk it to the end!"
"You heartless man! You were worried about our son just a moment ago, so why are you yelling now?"
"It's fine, Mom. I'm not hurt, am I? Dad is just worried about me."
"Hmph, I'm only afraid you'll disgrace the village. Why are you still standing at the door? Keiko, go make dinner first. Shiro and I need to talk for a while. Come, go to the study with me."
Perhaps because the system had been blown apart, Shiro was a bargain-bin protagonist. He had not been an orphan in either life, and because he had fused with the original owner's memories, he did not reject his parents in this life. At least, not anymore. His father was named Emiya Makoto! That's right, Emiya! Makoto! When Shiro had first transmigrated, he had been completely dumbfounded.
Of course, no matter how dumbfounded Shiro was, he could not change that fact.
"Sit."
After Shiro sat down, his father's expression turned serious. "After a year of war, you should understand very clearly just how dangerous being a shinobi is! Do you still insist on becoming one?"
Hearing that, Shiro answered solemnly, "I understand very well, which is why I need to become stronger! Only then can I protect my family and friends! And I've already found a way to become stronger!"
Emiya Makoto looked at him quietly for a while before saying, "In that case, wait here. I have something to give you." With that, Emiya Makoto stood and headed toward the bedroom.
Shiro was left standing there in confusion, fantasizing. Could my family be Madara Uchiha's undercover agents? Or is my surname actually Senju Clan? No, that can't be right. I have Chakra, not Chakra-ton! Then there's only one truth—I'm actually an Uchiha?! Just as Shiro imagined himself slaughtering enemies in every direction with the Rinnegan, his father returned.
"What are you grinning foolishly about? What I'm about to say is very important, so remember it well!"
"Yes, Father!" Shiro wiped the smile from his face.
"Actually, the Emiya Family used to be a shinobi clan. Though it was not large, it had a secret technique unique to us. But—"
"What! We're not Uchiha?"
"What Uchiha? Listen carefully! Stop interrupting!"
"Oh, okay, okay. But what?" Shiro answered awkwardly.
Emiya Makoto gave him a strange look before continuing, "But our descendants failed to live up to expectations, and the secret technique was lost. The Emiya Family gradually declined, until only this Sealing Scroll remained. Unfortunately, the Emiya Family has not produced a shinobi in a long time, and I do not know what is inside it. Decide what to do with it yourself. The Emiya Family has declined for a long time, and I do not expect you to revive it. I only have one demand for you: survive! You must do that!"
"Yes, Father!" Shiro answered solemnly.
"That is all I have to say. Let's eat." With that, Emiya stood and left the study.
After dinner, Shiro lay on his bed and quietly looked at the scroll. After a while, he sat up. "All right, let's see what my ancestors left me. Release!"
Bang! As the smoke dispersed, a brown wooden fragment appeared.
"This is..."
"Ding! A large amount of Chakra has been detected. Absorb it?"
"A large amount of Chakra?" Shiro stared at the fragment in shock. Wood, a large amount of Chakra... Could this be a fragment of the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path?!
Shiro swallowed. "Looks like I had some incredible ancestors. They could even get their hands on something like this. Heh, system, absorb it!"
"Ding! Absorption complete! System repaired to twenty-five percent. Enhancement function activated!"
"It's finally activated. System, display my attributes."
Strength: D Endurance: D+ Mana: D- (represents Chakra) Agility: D+ Luck: C (cannot be enhanced) (These values represent the values at adulthood. They will not increase current strength, but will increase the growth rate of the corresponding attributes. Enhancing attributes consumes energy.)
"What neat attributes. Let's enhance one and see." With that thought, Shiro focused on Mana. "Enhance!"
"Enhancement successful! Current repair progress has fallen to twenty-four percent!"
Mana: D
"Hm? The repair progress dropped? System, don't you have stored energy?"
"The energy storage function has not yet been repaired."
"Hmm, looks like I can't use it carelessly for now. System, enhance Mana to D++!"
"Enhancement successful! Current repair progress is twenty-two percent!"
"That's enough for now. It would be awful if the system became unusable again. I'll train for a while, then sleep. There's training tomorrow."
After that, Shiro practiced Reinforcement Magecraft for a while before going to sleep.
The next day.
"Mom, I'm heading to training!"
"Be careful. Don't get hurt!"
"Got it."
Shortly after Shiro arrived at the training ground, Seiyu, Chosuke, and Yamada arrived one after another. Of course, Seiyu and Chosuke came together. Shiro could smell that sour stench of romance from far away. At that moment, Shiro desperately wished he had a Noble Phantasm he could burn.
Once everyone had arrived, Yamada stepped in front of the three of them and said, "You already know some basic training methods. Practice freely. Ask me if there's anything you don't understand. All right, begin training."
After saying that, Seiyu and Chosuke went to practice water walking. Though they had already graduated for a year, Shiro and the others had graduated early because of the war, so they had not learned much in the academy.
The war had also left them with little time to train, so the two of them had not yet completed their water-walking training. Shiro, on the other hand, might have been a bargain-bin protagonist, but he was still a protagonist. Thus, he had long since begun training in tree climbing and water walking, though he had only just completed water walking himself.
Still, he was ahead of them, wasn't he?
Thus, Shiro went to the side and continued practicing Reinforcement Magecraft. Over the past year, he had submitted Reinforcement Magecraft under the name of a self-created ninjutsu. It gave Reinforcement Magecraft a proper origin and also served as a display of loyalty. Though it was not very useful, something was better than nothing.
At the same time, this was to prevent Projection Magecraft from being "voluntarily" handed over in the future. After all, he had already submitted one technique. Asking for another would be going too far. By the time Projection Magecraft attracted Danzo's interest, Shiro believed he would no longer be afraid of him.
Though it would not have mattered much if he submitted Projection Magecraft too.
After saying all that, the point was simply this: Reinforcement Magecraft could be practiced in the village.
"Reinforcement, begin!"
After a year of practice, Shiro had become fairly skilled with Reinforcement Magecraft. He could raise his Strength to D.
In addition, he had secretly used Projection Magecraft over the past year to learn other shinobi's combat techniques. He was already roughly at the level of a Chunin, though only temporarily. After all, he was still too young. He was only seven this year, his physical strength was still too weak, and he had little Chakra. Taken together, he was still some distance from truly being a Chunin.
Since they would continue training in the afternoon, Shiro and the others ate lunch together. While they were eating, Chosuke asked Shiro a question everyone had always been interested in.
Recommending a friend's book, Phantom Master of Spirits. It's a new one, so go take a look if you're interested.
