Needless to say, with such a bizarre method of infiltration, it could only be Jiraiya.

It all began three days earlier.

The Akatsuki hunting plan that Minato had drawn up had not exactly been spread everywhere, but quite a few people knew about it. Of course, Jiraiya was definitely not among them. In fact, everyone had more or less deliberately kept it from him.

At first, Jiraiya truly did not notice. Or rather, he noticed a few traces, but did not think too deeply about them. After all, they were ninja; having a few secret matters was completely normal. And since they were from the same village, it was not really appropriate to dig too deeply.
