Pastor John took a carriage back to Moonbrook that very day. Why a carriage? Because he had gone a day and a night without sleep.
He had gotten some rest on the day he received the Healing Potion Drew had brewed. Then he'd set out early in the morning, spent half a day traveling on horseback, and waited outside the library for the association president all night.
Now he had to hurry back again, and he simply couldn't take it anymore. He rented a carriage and fell asleep inside on the way back.
When Pastor John woke up in Moonbrook, he had wanted to rush straight to Drew. But then he realized he'd slept in the carriage all day and didn't look presentable. Showing up like that didn't seem very respectful.
It was almost dark, so he decided to go the next day instead. He went home and slept for another night.
The next day, Pastor John still didn't rush off to Lincoln Town to find Drew.
He thought about how Drew had given Nelson Eddie the task of finding ordinary people willing to take part in an experiment before he left.
Only two days had passed. Nelson Eddie probably hadn't found suitable candidates yet, since he didn't have a very wide network.
If he completed the task himself, perhaps he could invite Drew and Nelson over directly and bring up the matter of going to the Alchemist Association in Stormwind City at the same time. That way, it wouldn't seem so abrupt.
In just half a day, Pastor John used his connections to find five people willing to participate in the experiment.
He immediately used his authority to send a carrier pigeon to the mayor of Lincoln Town, asking him to pass the news on to Drew and invite him to come the next day for the experiment.
The news reached Drew very quickly. As soon as he received it, he began preparing the potions and told Nelson Eddie to go back to Moonbrook with him the next day.
They gathered in Moonbrook's church, in Pastor John's prayer room.
Five ordinary people closed their eyes and drank the potions in their hands. Each of them had a fresh wound.
Some had cuts from knives, some had burns, and others had injuries from blunt objects.
Every one of them was badly hurt, covered in blood, and some wounds were deep enough to expose the bone.
But as soon as they drank the potions, their wounds healed at astonishing speed, leaving no scars at all.
They stared at their wounds in amazement, looking them over from every angle.
Just then, they felt a sharp cramp in their stomachs. They immediately remembered that they'd been warned about this when the experiment was explained to them.
If that happened, they were to drink a second bottle of potion at once. After they did, the pain stopped immediately.
While they were still marveling at the potion they'd drunk, the experiment was already over. Drew didn't even need to examine them. He simply activated the Scanning System and scanned them; the results were clear. All five were in good health, with no problems at all.
Pastor John still wasn't reassured, so he examined them himself. Once he was satisfied that nothing was wrong, he sent them home, reminding them to come to the church right away if they had any problems.
They happily collected their money from Nelson Eddie and left.
In less than twenty minutes, they'd suffered no harm and earned a large sum of money. How could they not be happy?
After Pastor John had seen everyone off, he noticed Drew working on a summary of the experiment and didn't disturb him.
Once Drew had finished organizing his notes, Pastor John went over and asked, "So, are you satisfied with the results?"
"Mm, I'm fairly satisfied. It seems the Perfect Potion can be used by ordinary people. It just has a side effect, but that only means they need an extra bottle of Antidote Potion.
"Looks like we'll have to sell the two potions as a set," Drew replied.
"Does that mean this Healing Potion can be mass-produced now?
"And does that count as completing the Alchemist Association's task for the Cure Potion?"
"Uh, not quite.
"After all, there's no new formula, and I'm still the only one who can make it. The yield is extremely low, too.
"I certainly can't supply ordinary people in general. I could probably provide it only to ordinary people with status—nobles, royalty, or wealthy merchants, for example," Drew explained.
"Oh? The formula hasn't changed?
"Then how did you make the Perfect Potion?
"I wonder if the method could be shared more widely.
"Our Alchemist Association would like to talk with you. Do you have time?" Pastor John took the opportunity to extend an invitation.
"I can tell you the method, but I don't know whether you'll be able to make it work. For now, I'm probably the only one who can manage it once in a while. I doubt anyone else will find it easy.
"I knew the Alchemist Association would come looking for me as soon as you took that potion away.
"I still have to organize my experiment notes. How about I visit the Alchemist Association's Stormwind City branch on the first of next month?"
"Thank you so much."
A few days later, Drew accompanied Pastor John to Stormwind City.
Drew gazed at the magnificent city. It was vastly different from the one he remembered.
After all, the Stormwind City in the game he remembered had been rebuilt atop the ruins of this city. He recalled that the Alchemist Association in the game was in the Mage Quarter, but this city had no Mage Quarter, so he followed Pastor John along, taking in the local sights and customs.
Pastor John led him to the center of the city. There stood a building very much like the Alchemist Association headquarters in Dalaran. This had to be the Stormwind City branch.
Sure enough, as Pastor John brought him to the building, a large group of people came out. At the head of the group was Pastor John's teacher, Pierre Sarkozy, president of the Alchemist Association's Stormwind City branch.
The people standing beside President Pierre were all vice presidents, elders, and other members of the Alchemist Association.
Over the past few days, President Pierre had shown them the True Perfect Healing Potion Drew had made and told them about historical records of True Perfect-quality potions. Now that they'd heard Drew was coming, they watched him eagerly.
"Greetings, Master Drew. I'm Pierre Sarkozy, president of the Alchemist Association's Stormwind City branch. Welcome."
"Welcome, welcome," the people beside him chimed in.
"Greetings, President. I'm just an ordinary senior alchemist. I don't deserve to be called a master," Drew said modestly.
"You absolutely do. Anyone who can brew a True Perfect-quality potion deserves the title of master.
"No matter what level you were at when you made a True Perfect-quality potion, it proves you have a gift for alchemy. You're sure to become a renowned master alchemist someday.
"That's beyond doubt. It's only a matter of time."
"True Perfect?" Pastor John hadn't yet told Drew about True Perfect quality. Drew had always thought he'd made a Perfect-quality potion.
"Never mind that. Let's go inside and talk." As he spoke, the group ushered Drew through the doors of the Alchemist Association.
