Background / History
Jin Lihua was raised with access to renowned martial arts teachers and top-tier resources. She came to Tianzhong Province because she was bored at home and wanted to see more of the world 68 69.
At Li Baisheng’s Drill Ground, she defeated Zhao Yuan and then insisted on sparring with Lin Xuan after noticing his unusually precise reactions. He evaded her attacks for thirty moves before conceding. Li Baisheng later warned her that holding back out of confidence was dangerous: an enemy on a battlefield would not give her time to test them 68 69.
She and Lin Xuan arranged regular sparring in exchange for martial arts instruction. After reading his poem about an elderly military-household soldier, she began questioning how little she knew of the hardships faced by Great Jin’s people 70 73. When Lin Xuan believed his mother had been abducted, Jin Lihua accompanied him and Lin An on a search lasting more than ten days 75 76.
Appearance
Jin Lihua is a sixteen-year-old young woman whose dignified appearance contrasts with her lively manner 68.
- Wears gray clothing when first seen at the Drill Ground 68.
- Has a fair oval face and almond-shaped eyes 68.
- Often stands with her hands clasped behind her back after a victory 68.
Personality
Jin Lihua enjoys fighting and seeks opponents who can surprise her. She chooses Lin Xuan as a sparring partner because she already knows how her other fellow disciples tend to fight. She is curious about his abilities and persistent when she wants an answer 69 70 72.
Her confidence leads her to hold back against Zhao Yuan and Lin Xuan, believing she controls both matches. She takes Li Baisheng’s criticism seriously once he explains the danger of that habit 69. Her poem recalls time with her parents, while Lin Xuan’s poem prompts her to ask about the lives of military households 72 73.
Abilities & Skills
River-Sealing Hand
Jin Lihua’s preferred martial art uses deft force to disrupt an opponent’s true qi circulation rather than contest raw strength 68 70.
- A light strike obstructs the true qi in Zhao Yuan’s arm; she later hinders circulation in Lin Xuan’s arm 68.
- She possesses its first three levels, sufficient for cultivation up to the Pivot-Holding Realm 70.
- She sometimes refrains from using it against Lin Xuan so their sparring matches last longer 71.
Martial Training
- Defeats late-stage Breath-Connecting cultivator Zhao Yuan in fewer than ten moves 68.
- Trained by renowned masters from childhood; Li Baisheng finds no flaw in her combat skills, but criticizes her tendency to hold back 69.
- Uses her full strength to defeat an improved Lin Xuan within twenty moves during a later spar 71.
Relationships
- Lin Xuan — Fellow disciple and regular sparring partner. She teaches him River-Sealing Hand and helps search for his mother 68 70 73 75.
